Glock 26 vs 27

Postby BillG22 on Sat Jul 24, 2010 7:03 pm

For those of you who like/have Glocks:

I have a G22, not really for CC. I am thinking about a 26, however, I do believe my mags would fit the 27.

Any of you like the 27? I was originally thinking 26 because of the caliber. A little cheaper to shoot, something different. Also, if, and that is a BIG IF, the wife comes to the range with me, I think a .40 is a bit much.

Any thoughts??

Thanks!

If you wish to try, I have a 26 that works very well, your mags loaded with 9 will make up a fine back up mag, that is, carry the ten rounder factory and load the 17 rounder as a secondary if you need it....

Thanks for the offer, but I am just a few hundred miles from you. I am curious if I would be disappointed in the 26, when comparing it to the 22. It's not like I shoot the 22 to perfection. Not even close. I do not have anywhere to even try it. Maybe my next trip to the TC are, I should stop in at one of the gun shops.

Thanks again.

I have a 27 and for a carry gun I feel the 40 is a better choice. I shot the 26 and 27 before I bought my 27 and although the 9 is softer shooting for a carry gun I did not plan to shoot hundreds of rounds a week through it so the extra snap was fine for me. My 27 is scary accurate and it has run 100%.

I carry it almost daily, I use a Bianchi carry lok holster. My wife and kids would say the 27 is a handful, my wife prefers her EMP in 9mm. She shoots the EMP much more accurately and it is her daily carry, she tried a 26 before buying the EMP and really like the feel of the 1911 frame verses the glock.

Having owned and shot both, I prefer the 27. I actually shoot .40 more accurately than 9mm for some odd mental reason, and the snap doesn't bother me in the least.

Buy the 26. Everyone should own a 26.
May I assume you're not here to inquire about the alcohol or the tobacco?

I like keeping things multi-tasking.... I carry a 17, the wife a 19. I also carry an extra mag, If ever needed, I know I can throw my mag into her 19 without issue.
The 26/27 is a nice carry gun, but at only 1/2 inch longer and taller, I think a 19/23 is a better choice IMHO. But if you are settled on the sub-compact, I would do the 23... If just for the mag swapping and ammo sharing.

All depends on the mode of carry. I can get a 26/27 into a SmartCarry with very little (if any) printing. A 19/23 is a bit tougher.

Get a 26 & a 27.
Everyone should own a 26 & a 27.

See if your wife can try a 27, if you think she'll be using it much.
I've carried both, and like them both, but the 26 for me is easier to get off multiple shots,
without shooting the lights out at the range.

I'm very happy I purchased a Glock 26 a few years ago, and would never trade it for anything... and I do like my Glock 23C. The 26 is a great gun... perfect size, easy to control and put a great grouping into any target I'm shooting at.

I want to get a 19 or 26 someday because I carry a 17. A few weeks ago I picked up a 642 so that will have to do for a compact carry gun for awhile.
