Looking for some FUN

Postby snlit3 on Thu Aug 12, 2010 4:39 pm

I don't own a revolver, I'm interested in the Taurus 444 6.5 and 8.375 barrel. I just don't know what i'd enjoy more, i'm going to have to put them in my hand to really see what i like but I'm looking for some insight on what you think is a fun gun to shoot (bigger caliber revolver)

Thanks!

I recently purchased my first two revolvers:

S&W 642
Ruger Security Six

I have enjoyed shooting them both so far ;)

I like the Python, but I think you're looking for something a little bigger.

I've seen the barrel blow off of a Taurus .357 Magnum....spend the extra for a S&W, Colt, Ruger etc...

How about a nice, slightly used S&W? No blown off barrel here.

Is that what they mean by "top-break" revolver?

I see why you are named thunderjohn now. As for a fun shooter nothing could be more fun the a 500 magnum. If you're looking for something purely for thrills I can't imagine what could beat it. Packs a wallup but can still be easily controlled. On the other hand practically speaking it doesn't have a lot of applications. If you do decide to go this route I have a set of reloading dies I could part with for a very fair price!

The absolute best .44 for the money is a Ruger Blackhawk ... http://www.galleryofguns.com/Genie/Default.aspx?item=S458N-C

Al's says $505 + tax + shipping.

Blackhawks typically have exceptional triggers, outta the box.

I personally prefer the 4 5/8in bbl:
