Can you retake that picture with another well know firearm in the pic for comparison to size maybe add a ruler in the picture as well, That looks smaller than the gun she has, (not that I am looking for a smaller gun for her, but just to compare. . .

OK, now seriously, isn't this where I started??? A Cobra Derringer, talk about coming full circle the circuitous route.

Not a Derringer I know, but a few pictures for size comparison

3 guns - 4" Kimber CDP - Kahr PM9 - Rohrbaugh R9s

First one is a .45 acp and the other 2 are 9mm. Did this quick and dirty, so no apologies for the crappy pictures.

It maybe doesn't look like it in the pictures, maybe shadows, but the Rohrbaugh is slimmer and much lighter than the Kahr. In fact, standard Speer Gold Dot 9mm loads in the Rohrbaugh have a lot more felt recoil than Corbon +P 9mm in the Kahr.

I was thinking about this when I took the original pictures.

Here is a shot with my Glock 19 and the Cobra 9mm. I think this will be a great pocket carry gun.

Yes, but I thought 1911fan was looking for some additional information on small handguns for a lady attorney. Sorry I don't have one of those derringers to lay next to the Rohrbaugh.

I appreciate that Joe. Cooler heads prevailed this time (The checkbook complained) so we'll keep looking for something.

Thanks to both of you, One thing I am surprised at is how small the kahr is compared to the Rohrsbaugh, In my minds recollections, The Rohrbaugh was 1/2 the size of a Kahr, but in fact is only about 4/5's the size if that and twice the money.

Also that Cobra is about the size of the one she carries, which is an american derringer with perhaps a tad shorter barrels length.

Which Kahr are you referring to, P9 or a PM9?

I have both a P9 and PM9 and there is quite a difference there and I have students confuse them quite often because they look identical until you place them side by side.

He was recently on call when a young man was brought in with 9 GSW all from a .380 and he lived, 6 were thorax hits. They loose too much energy getting thru the ribs to continue on thru. Granted one lucky hit on a Aorta, or pulmonary artery, and that would be that, but if you get 6 hits on a BG in the chest and he does not die, and in fact is talking to the MD's who are going to work on him, you have to ask yourself if a keltec or a Tomcat is worth it.

Yikes!

I'm going to start practicing Mozambiques with my P3AT.

Thanks for the great comparison chart. Has the Ronm derringer people been around for a while? I'm truly intrigued by all these derringers. I stopped at Bills on Sunday and looked over their selection. As for sessmic sam's comment about not being useful at a distance, I can hit a target with a NAA 22 at 20 feet so I see no reason I couldn't with a 9mm derringer.

I dont think the Rohm has been made in quite sometime, It was made in Germany and I bought it used quite awhile back. I use it for CAS side matches. I much prefer the P3AT with more rounds and lighter weight and comparable in size for carry purposes.

Rohm derringers and revolvers were sold by the boatload before the 1968 GCA, and then into the mid 70s. Almost all of them can't be legally sold in Minnesota because of junk gun laws.
