Are they expensive? :)

from what I've heard, they are the most expensive thing that will ever own you.

CS---ARE YOU NUTS  ???? Don't ever hide a firearm from someone in your own home-----be a standup citizen--tell your wife you want a handgun and go from there. Have you ever heard " Hold Yourself To A HIGHER Standard " ? That's what people that own firearms do. Just my .02

R.E.T. is right -- if you're not going to carry it, a shotgun is vastly more effective, AND it's cheaper. Plus you can say it's for hunting.

If you know your wife will leave you if you did purchase one, I'd re-evaluate your decision.

You guys should get educated yourselves on guns first before you even think about purchasing one.

Then they have a get-back-together child to finish up this hot mess. You can store it in the crawlspace next to (but separate from) the gun.

Just look at this guy's history of trolling, and wake up and smell the coffee!! http://www.mnguntalk.com/search.php?author_id=3049&sr=posts

Q: Do I need to apply for a permit to buy?

YES it's called a Permit to Purchase.

Q: If so, how do I do this?

You're asking questions that would only take a few seconds to answer if you did any research. Everyone here is correct, you stink like a troll.

If this is trolling, it's not very good - there isn't anything here to cause a huge argument and nothing to make people giving advice look bad. At this point i don't really care if he is a troll. The reasoned responses might actually come in handy for some poor bastard who really does have that kind of a marriage.

As I said in the last go-around of this charade, what are the actual chances that any gun owner could meet a woman, at some point take her back to his place where guns were present, even if locked up, go all the way through a serious romance and wind up marrying her without the subject of her hating guns coming up at some point?? Unless somebody got drunk and woke up in a Las Vegas motel married the next morning, I maintain that the chances are ZERO, as in no way in hell is this story beleivable. Other people smell fish just like I do, and I really can't see why we should be wasting bandwidth on a troll, PARTICULARLY if the rationalization is that martial advice from a sarcastic SOB like mnglocker might be valuable to somebody at some point in the future. I mean, seriously, would you accept ANY advice on a serious emotional issue from someone whose license plate is GO AWAY??? This is mnguntalk, not the Ann Landers column!!

Meanwhile, dear old Carl is cackling away that he has manipulated us into wasting more time with his made up stories. If you want to be his pet dupe you have the right to do so, but please don't try telling us that we should be playing along because somebody in here might benefit from an opinion on how save a marriage that couldn't have happened in the first place.

I thought he wasn't a gun owner yet.

Prolly not. Then again, I married a sane woman, so what I do might not be typical.

Umm, Sam, I didn't tell anyone to play along. I just said I didn't mind if anyone did. If someone wants to waste their time, who am I to stop them?

If you look through Carl's current and previous incarnation, he has been posting here about guns for nearly a year. Initially he came on like Joll himself and asked leading questions and tried to elicit death threats from people that he could use against them, and then in his current incarnation supposedly shows off a lot of knowledge about guns that pretty much proves that he's lying about his gun knowledge OR actually knows what he's talking about, which means he was lying about being a noob to begin with. Either way, he's lying through his teeth and trying to provoke as much controversy as possible.

So: He's been yapping about PTP's and CCL's and good scopes knowing a mint gun from a used gun since January, and it isn't until 10 months later that he FINALLY finds out that his wife hates guns and won't permit them in the house?? Well, I challenge you to name ONE regular member of this forum where this situation would be conceivably possible. Give me a name. And you see nothing wrong with somebody who baits people like this continuing to be on this forum??

I don't buy into that reply mnglocker. You said what you said and so did hammAR. Two direct threats to my life.

I have good Idea.
Let's let the cops figure out who is right and who is wrong here.
Ready to play with me mnglock?
Let me know how lucky you feel. I bet you don't reply and flee. If you want to reply to the challenge, let me know.
After all, you are right.

First a public apologie to Stradawhovious. I got so off subject with hammAR's semantics lesson that I never fully read Stradawhovious's comments. Stradawhovious was the one to actually answer my question and I thank him immensly. Like I said. I am new. I don't know the right terms. He also defended...

From what I have seen. Strad is arrogant to begin with. I guess a guy that feels he can give people problems and especially new posters. I guess that is why no one joins this forem or MNguntalk to begin with. Who would, when they open their mouth and get put down by a long term member that knows it ...

I ended up buying the Leupold VX-3 3.5-9x40 scope today. got a bargain on it too - $430 shipped. the deal was too good to pass up, plus, I didn't want to have any regrets if I bought the VXII. i'm sure it's good but the VX3 is probably better...even if it's overkill

The Gunstop will have what you're looking for. I'm 90% sure that they have a Rem 700 Mountain LSS in the racks that looks unfired (30-06) among others. I always found that their prices are the best but Larry doesn't really negotiate on price. The deals are there, yesterday I picked up a Browning...

And here's the real treasure: First he says he's dickered with Metro Pawn on MULTIPLE used guns and bought them, and then says Gunstop and Frontiersman would be the other "dicker spots" on his list, and then IN THE NEXT BREATH asks if dickering is fairly common among gun stores, and asks what the best way to make a deal...

Metro Pawn dickers hard on used guns, I've gotten a few real nice deals from them when the sticker was, "wow", overpriced. Gunstop and Frontiersman would be the others on my list. is negotiating price fairly common among stores that sell used firearms? if so, what's the best way to make...

What kind of a rifle do you want? Prices are going to be pretty fair all over, as the gun buying boom of last year has tapered off. Gander has new 700 rem ADL's for 400 with a scope, awful hard to beat that. All depends on what you want. The era of the 100 dollar winchester 94 is gone, I'm lo...

If you go in expecting to get 50% off the sticker price on everything, you're going to be disappointed...if you go in expecting to get 5-10% (or less)...you'll likely be happy. The worst that can happen if you try to negotiate is that they say "no deal". Just don't be insulting on the s...

My guess it that it is not a current model, not the flavor of the day. People want 50mm objective lenses and 30 mm tubes now with tactical style turrents and Side Focus  Does it make any difference on a deer rifle? Nope, nada, zilch. Monarchs have great glass and they hold up to recoil, ...
