Cheapest place for 1911 mags?

Postby m4andxdisbliss on Mon Dec 20, 2010 10:37 pm

Looking for some quality mags for the 1911, so many of them and so many places sell them.

CM, Wilson, Mec-gar, etc... where do you buy yours?

And where have you found the best prices?

Looking to get a few used misc. mags till I find out what my 1911 likes. Then I'll buy a bunch of them.

I do have a loaded coupon, guess I could buy a bunch of Springer USGI Mags for range use and just buy 2-3 nice ones for EDC.

Got a C&R license on file at Brownells. Pretty heavy discounts that way, on Chip Mc or most other brands of magazines last time I bought a handful of them. Was the best deal I could find at the time. Was this past spring.

Cdnn. Metalform mags. Under 10 bucks. They make Colt and springer OEM mags. Very high quality. I have many and have never had a bad mag.

Wilson, Chip, Metalform all work great in all my 1911s. I gravitated to Wilson 47Ds, ended up putting Tripp 7 round kits in most of mine. Truth be told, every mag I have ever used has worked. I have a decent assortment if you want to borrow any before you buy.

Wilson ETM's are an upgrade from the 47D ... I've swapped most of mine, now.

MidwayUSA usually has 'em on sale fer a few $ off, every other month 'er so.

Yep ETM's, if you don't have Wilson, then you don't have ****......
also, you do not have to buy them all at once, just buy one a month till your larder is full............. ;)

Yeah I was looking to purchase 1-2 of the Wilson 47DE's.

The Chip Mac. Power mags are pretty cheap too, and had them before with my GI. Worked great.

Also Kimber Pro-Tac mags have worked good for me in the past.

Found both the Chip's and Kimbers for $19 and some change.

Thanks guys, just wanted to see what others buy and do for mags... :D

Try some metalforms. It's my experience that they work all the time. Wilsons are good, but they are triple the price, and if your daily activities don't include stepping on them or running them over with vehicles, you might find they are perfectly reliable. They have been an OEM supplier for at least thirty years.

Oh I defiantly am... Gonna just get a few Chip's or Kimber's for carry.

I think I'll get the ones on cdnn with the ext. pad. Just got a Magwell so I'll need to buy pads for my other mags also.

These Metalforms are even cheaper than ordering with the loaded coupon from Springfield, so much for their drastic discount... ;)
