A .22 at 200 yards, I'd like to see that, especially in a AR type platform. Is that 22 fitted with one of those lazer based things that just tells you if you would have hit the target if the bullet would have made it that far!

In re reading this, are you asserting a twenty two will not go 200yards?

Sure a 22LR will go 200yards, but given the wind conditions and the size of the target where they are going might be a little harder to determine. The OP in question is Mr. Laser so it was also a poor attempt at humor.

I'm going to let this one go after this, we've drifted far enough and I'm not really interested in the OP bragging about any more $200 triggers and custom walnut stocks.

I don’t recall taking a personal shot at you? I have been a member of IHMSA, I competed and was just conveying my info. I compete against guys in CMP that have more money in their practice guns (plural) each, than I can afford to put into one competition gun. If you compete you pay the price, you do not do it to brag.

There have been a few Palma 200 yard .22lr matches in Minnesota... If you don't think you can shoot .22lr at 200 yards you should chat with a few of these guys:

IHMSA shoots (I do not and never did) in .22LR at up to 100 meters (328.08399 feet) that is with a pistol? I shot 7mm BR xp100 not .22lr. :?

I have shot a Cooper in 22 LR that will group as well as many Centerfire rifles at 200, certainly not a Bench rest gun, but when dialed in, shooting 2 inch groups for me was not that hard.... Wind puffs of course could push the bullet a fair distance because of the time in flight, but hitting targets at 200 yards is not that hard with a good gun, good glass, and good ammo.

p.s Joe thanks for all the info. i really appreciate it

Hey, where did you order yours from and which model? I'm looking for a trainer for my XD and this looks like the closest thing I'm going to find at a good price point.

Thanks

Pistol can be a revolver ... but yeah, I understood he wasn't looking for a revolver, it's still a good option though. :D

Some of the choices for pistols under 700 dollars will put you into the Buckmark, a professionally tweaked Ruger, a well used High Standard Citation or used Hammerli Trailside. ( Trailside is one of the finest and most under recognized affordable pistols of the last 20 years) Of these four, only the High Standard has the nice trigger, and fits the hand well when better grips are purchased. The Ruger is crying for a trigger job, right out of the box, so heads-up. The Walther (Smith and Wesson) and it clones, I don't know much about. Mosquito is ammo sensitive.

Just remember some of the basics of purchasing an all-around pistol: Natural pointing feel, bold sights, hand-filling grips, predictable trigger, fixed barrel to frame, (like Hammerli and High Std), smooth cycling action, scope ready, easy cleaning and good resale value. To go over 700$, go M-41 Smith. To go over 1200 to 1700$, go Pardini SP22 or Pardini "new", the discontinued SP22 is popularly available thoughout the Olympic shooting crowd on <www.targettalk.org>. Here is a picture of one so you know what to look for, if you have some beer money burning a hole in your dungarees, that is.
