another Ruger GP100 question...

There is a small metal pin les then 1/8" diameter and roughly 1" long stored in the grips....what the heck is this for?

It is for takedown. With the grip off you pull back the hammer which compresses the assembly in the handle. You put the pin in the hole at the bottom of the compressed assembly to keep it compressed so it can be removed from the gun. This should all be in your owner's manual.

Thanks for the info... unfortunatly the gun was used and there was no manual. I was pretty sure that it was something along those lines.
