Considering an older Ruger Single Six...

Postby ijosef on Tue Mar 08, 2011 12:03 pm

I have the option to take one in on trade. It's an older convertible model with both the .22LR and .22mag cylinders, 6.5" barrel and blued finish w/wood grips. According to the serial number it's a 1974 model, and appears to be in pretty good condition for its age. It's just the gun with no box or papers. Round count is unknown.

Any opinions on this gun? What is it worth in your estimation?

I have an old blued single six with wood grips and a 6.5 barrel. I have little idea as to the value. Somebody told me once about $650 but I didn't verify that. But a can say for sure that I love the gun and its a hoot to shoot. I think this gun will stay with me forever....
I love it when a plan comes together!

I have my WASR-10 up on armslist for trade and that was one of the many offers I've received. I'm still sorting them out.

I have one and really like to shoot it. Put some wolf springs in it and the trigger is much nicer.

I like to use it to introduce new people to shooting. It keeps the rate of fire slow and they can't get excited and pull the trigger again without thumbing the hammer.

not sure when they started the ruger so called safety recall to put the transferbar into it. Make sure the ones with out the upgrade are worth a little more. Just my opinion.
