I am not sure why people recommend type of sights. These are very personal choices. I love Heinie 8s, but I wouldn't recommend it to everyone.

Stick to recommending on brands.

That said, a lot of major brands out there work just fine. I use Trijicon in all mine, but this really is personal preference as well. Just remember to get the right measurements for the fit and dot sizes as well as slot width when you are considering replacement sights.

Do not get exposed fiber optic sights if you are taking your gun to rough handling places (training, survival...whatever). They can break or melt down.
