Which 1911 should i get next?

Postby promod1385 on Mon Jun 06, 2011 7:21 pm

I have been shooting USPSA at Oakdale and MAPSA this year. This being my rookie season if I am still interested this fall I plan on buying a new gun.

I have been shooting a Taurus 1911 in Single Stack and want to buy a nicer 1911.

My list of potential guns is as follows:
Grundhauser
Colt Gold Match
Springfield TRP
Sig Sauer XO

The Sig is a lot less money, i would use the difference to put a Techwell Magwell on it as well as some sort of adjustable sight. By reading Sig's website it seems all of there 1911's are hand fitted and all essentially the same just different features and finishes.

What are everyone's thoughts on these guns?

Budget is under $1500.

I thought my OP made it clear my intended use is USPSA SIngle Stack competition.

Once set up, adjustable sights on a short range target gun are a detriment. Fixed sights don't have you desperately looking for screws and pins in the middle of the night.

For just about your budget you can buy a Colt Special Combat. Me, I'd buy a $700 dollar Used Colt, add a trigger job and a beavertail and consider it all I need.

I own Springfield Loaded Combat which was around $800 use the extra and do whatever you like with the extra money. 1911fan right about the sights. The Colt not bad idea either. Good Luck in decision. Really all want your preference is.

I would take a look at the new Dan Wessons as well, they are right under your budget (Valor or Heritage)

The TRP is a little nicer(pricer) than the others on your list, you could go with a loaded and save a few bucks. Either way I'd still go springer.

I have a TRP that I purchased last fall - I've been quite happy with it since I purchased it. It has shot like a tack driver and hasn't had a single issue.

Based on this, I'd like a Professional ;)

I can't see myself ever naming a condom a Trojan, Didn't the Trojans have a very bad day when the Greeks broke out of that hollow horse and ruined everything?

ON Topic.. I don't compete, (And if I ever do participate in a competition, I likely still won't compete) But I am confident in my Loaded Springfield.

I have a TRP Operator...and yeah, it is amazing. Want a sweet 1911 without a TRP price tag? Check out the Springfield Armory Range Officer. Really nice gun.
