Bought my first 1911!!!!

Postby PHATSPEED7x on Mon Jun 13, 2011 10:34 pm

My neighbor was in need of a home defense, varmint gun so I sold him my AR-15. I used the money for that towards the purchase of my first 1911...

Here is a pic of it with the black grips installed...

Got it all cleaned, and ready for some shooting tomorrow with it if the weather holds. :D

Congrats! Welcome to the sickness.

Sure is pretty! I used to have one just like it, and it ran like a top. Let us know how it goes tomorrow!

NM= Fit and Finished in the US. Try to keep up

This doesn't apply to Glocks, so I think I am keeping up just fine.

But thanks for bringing me up to speed.

Simple answer - made in the USA and not Brazil.

Springfield's 1911 frames and slides are manufactured by Imbel in Brazil. If the gun was made in Brazil, it would have a "N" prefix and say IMBEL BRAZIL on the frame. This gun has a "NM" prefix. The frame and slide still come from Brazil but the gun was made in the US. Most MilSpecs that I've seen and owned are Imbel. I think that the NM guns that say USA on the side are better for no other reason than the roll mark (just MHO). Some argue that the NM guns are better. Most say that the Imbel facility is state of the art and the guns are excellent.
