For my opinion whether I currently own it or not:

The H&K USP. The company that started the polymer frame revolution.
The 1911 John Browning did so well series 70.
The Glock 17 that is probably the best single gun ever produced, although I like the 5" barreled versions better.

1. Sig Sauer Carry 45 1911, 45 acp with 4.25 inch BBl
2. My Beretta 92fs
3. Springfield XDM Compact 3.8 {My Newest acquisition}

Those are my three main carry guns but I do occasionally carry my Ruger GP 100 357 Mag for nostalga reasons.

This is easy for me since I've owned exactly three (styles of) carry guns:

First was the M1911 (first a Charles Daly, then a Kimber) -- I was originally sucked into the gun culture by the writings of Jeff Cooper, so there was no alternative.

Second was the Ruger Sp101 in .357 Magnum -- that 1911 was kinda heavy, plus I found that a manual safety is too complicated for me.

And now I carry a Ruger GP100 -- I needed a 6-shooter to be able to shoot in IDPA with a DAO revolver like my SP101. Then I found that remembering to bring a different gun to matches was too complicated for me.
