Vaquero 4.62 vs 5.5

Postby rthib on Sun Sep 18, 2011 6:15 pm

Looking and getting the convertible 45LC/ACP Vaquero
Have a choice of 4.62 or 5.5 barrel.

Wondering what folks have and what their thoughts are on pro/con of each.

I prefer the 4.625in Vaqueros!

I wouldn't say 5.5in'd buy ya anything 'til ya get well past 25yd ... and by then, ya'd probly prefer a Blackhawk!

I'm guessin' this is a fun gun? ... but not fer SASS?

Rule of thumb in SASS is older you are the longer the barrel of your pistol or rifle. It's the waning eye that decides what length you need.

Get both! That's what I did. The 4.62" will feel better balanced, but the 5.5" ain't bad either. And since you're aiming along the long groove in the top strap, it really doesn't make much difference there.
