There's an M&P 9mm in the classified section that would get your foot in the door. You would then not have a "hideous" Glock.

Doesn't it cost two months' salary, or something like that? :)

Point two. Glock hand guns are like Camry's. Dead reliable, boring as hell, guns that fit no one but almost fit most people.

To me, they are the gun for the non gunner.

When you pull the trigger, it goes bang. Simple as that.

Glock themselves, makes a very nice pistol. It goes bang.

I just won't buy one based off past experience of having better customer service from Playskol compared to Glock.

Both had a service failure and playskol went out of their way to ensure that over 250,000 toys were fixed/repaired/replaced. By the time I found out about it on National news, I got a phone call from the ex that the repair parts were in the mail that day.

Glock kept it under wraps pretty tight and when I did find out about it, even the dealer and the service center they dealt with had to search for the information. And then I was told it would take 10-12 MONTHS to get my pistol returned to me. I think they said it effected 50,000 pistols.

Sorry, no thanks.

Just wondering what problem was this and when did it happen?

Glock 19 is one of the best of both worlds... small enough to carry, and large enough for a good range gun... it would be good to try at the range for your first Glock... at least that is which one I would recommend.

Like I said, Glock makes an incredible pistol.

The customer service on that incident did not do much for confidence in the company to stick with them. Beretta and Ruger has been incredible for me. Never had an issue with my Beretta's and Ruger has replaced for free the parts I needed for those guns, 10/22 and MKII.

Glock is a pretty sweet gun. I was a long time XD shooter, and really didn't care much for them I read the stories online about the glock kaboom, and issues with the 4th gen models. But there was that part of me that really wanted to own one. So I bought a Glock 19 3rd gen last month brand new, and it's been my new carry gun ever since. Then I traded a XD40 for a Glock 17 RTF2. Both are great shooting guns. I've been turned to the darkside.... But I still like my XD45C, and XD9 tactical also.

But looks don't mean much when compared to effectiveness. Sway me to the dark side. I just don't get it.

So you carry a 1911?

Anokamnman wrote:I appreciate the input. I own one handgun. I hate it but the wife loves it and wanted it. It's a Taurus pt111. Blah.

Now it has come time to get something that I want. Some thing that would be my carry weapon. So I am trying to keep an open mind. I have rented the xd40. Liked it. Borrowed my buddy's FNP-40. loved it. Just too bulky to carry. Wanted to see if y'all could sway me towards Glock. Thinking I will skip class next week and go rent one of them to test fire. Any suggestions on which .40 or .45 Glock that would be a great carry piece? I don't need it uber small. Just don't want something big like a full size 1911.

If you are concerned about carry, throw all brand name model crap out the window. make a list of specifications that you would like in a carry weapon (e.g., has to be .45, or has to be thin, or would like it to be light, want more than a 38, and it can't print soo much, etc). Then go find and try them all, pull the trigger or shoot them, feel them, etc.

you might find out that the carry weapon love of your life is a walther PPS. :)
