What is the story on Kimbers? I have 3 SA 1911's now and I am thinking of buying a Super Carry Pro HD. Yes or no?

My Kimber Warrior needed a feed ramp polishing and has zero malfunctions since (2k rounds).

I've carried my Eclipse Pro II daily for going on 5 years. Thousands and thousands of flawless rounds through it (after minor work to the slide release at the beginning).

About the Super Carry Pro..... I'm not familiar. Sorry.

I'm not a Kimber fan, had 2 neither ever ran 100%. I've made the switch to Springfield and never looked back. Many folks obviously buy them and have good luck, but you also see a number of folks buy them then have to tinker with them to run. For the price they should run not need work, and while the factory will do repairs it is disappointing to spend a grand on a pistol and have it spend a month going back and forth to get it to work like it should have when you bought it. My other choice would be a STI tuned by Brazo, a step up from a factory gun in my opinion. He is an artist with a 1911.

Kimber builds a lot of solid guns but their quality control isn't what it should be IMHO. I think that most of their guns run fine. I had one with a tight chamber and one that needed the extractor tuned. Both went back but run fine now. I had another, bought used, that always ran perfectly.

I'd look at a Dan Wesson Guardian if I were you. Kimber can't hold a candle to DW. Call Dave Severns for the best price.

I own a Kimber Eclipse that I bought used and it came to me with upgrades. It has been a wonderful reliable gun.
I have two friends who have purchased new Kimbers. One doubled and sent a shot through the roof and the other
one has been sent back to Kimber several times. I don't recall the model but I know he spent a little coin and it was
going to be his primary carry gun. I would hate to trust my life to a gun that the manufacturer has spent more time
with than I had. I carry an older Colt Defender that has many flawless rounds through it.

I currently own 2 Kimbers, carry one that has only a few thousand rounds through it with no problems. I had another that I shot for years in IDPA and had zero issues with it also. I traded in a Rock River Arms 1911 at Cabela's several years ago and remember the guy in the Library asking how rounds have been through it. Said I didn't know, really didn't want to say, but he commented it had to be a lot, the rifling looked pretty smooth.

If I was in need I would look at a Kimber again, although I am not fond of the Swartz type safety.

Marv sold it to me.... claims it was what I needed ... he is right so far..... i like better than my Colt SXE .... whcih after a trigger job and houge grips is a nice gun to shoot...... maybe the Kimber just needs houges?

i don't know, the production Kimbers are kinda crappy from what i've seen (plastic mainspring housings?!), but the custom shop kimbers aren't bad. in fact, they're pretty nice. i, too, have my eye on a Super Carry HD, the Custom model in 5" fashion. i also like the Super Carry Pro HD (4 incher), but i'm thinkin that i'll stick with 5" models

I've owned/own several -- had a couple challenges with one used one I bought from Bill's but once I replaced the recoil springs and tuned up the extractor it was fine.

One of my carry 1911s is a Kimber SIS Pro - has run like a top since I pulled it out of the box. Course, they don't make that one any more.

I have a Springfield TRP that also runs great. I would trust my life to it or the Kimber SIS Pro... and do.

Does the SIS series have the Swarz safety?

The two I currently own are both Pro CDP, pre Swartz safety.
One I carry and the twin to it is brand new and in my safe, just in case. ;)

By now, Kimber's got a lot of 1911s out there, so it's kinda like asking, 'are Fords good?' -- some guys are thinking of the Mustang and some guys are thinking of the Edsel. I liked my Custom II but it was only about 98% reliable. Also it got a little rust on the slide. Probably both due to my neglect, but a guy's gotta know his limitations; I traded it for a stainless revolver.

I have had a Custom Target II for a long time. Thousands of rounds shot without a problem.
Also it is the most accurate out of the box 1911 that I have shot, and at 50 yards, using my Precision "Black Bullet" reloads, it shoots unbelievably well.

Many of my shooters use Kimbers, and I have heard no problems, but only praise for this pistol.
