From what I've gathered after lurking around the Ruger forums for awhile, I've found that most folks consider Ruger revolvers to be "oversprung" from the factory. Fortunately, Rugers seem to be fairly easy to work on for the average DIY home gunsmith and their triggers can be greatly improved by a little polishing/deburring and a Wolff spring kit.
There's an old codger at my gun range who will often show up with a bag full of 50+ year old Smith & Wesson wheelguns... that he bought brand new. They're all in minty condition, having been range toys and meticulously cared for by a single owner. He has a six shot .22LR Smith wheelgun and that thing is a beauty - it even has the firing pin right on the hammer.
