This topic has created a lot of thoughtful responses. One reply did mention S&W M-17. I have 2 "shooters", so these have never seen the floor of a safe. As the 617 has higher capacity, you can compete against the spray guns, no argument. But, back on topic: point of information; the latest models of S&Ws no longer sport a trigger stop. Now true, if you are plinking, you don't need one. But if you want accuracy, you may want to drop back a few years ( "dash-3") and get a blued 6?" M-17. Sure, they don't pop up every day, but they are around. The frame will be cut for the trigger stop, and Numrich Arms has the stop and screw for easy mounting and adjusting. Many of the graybeards on this site know exactly of what I speak. This pic demonstrates the Karl Nill (Deutschland) adjustable target grips with palm support. You put your hand "ON" factory grips..you put your hand "IN" target grips. The quality of the '70's issue M-17 is pretty outstanding. A purist may say go to the K-22 5-screw. Also, like the others say, the Wilson reduced weight spring set drops into these and yields a lighter, more desirable trigger pull/action. Finally, a little too much money on a nice pistol now spares you having to trade up, repair or create an excuse, let alone the joy of ownership and intrinsic value.
