Favorite carry method?

Postby ForeverTwoWheels on Mon Mar 05, 2012 6:21 pm

I always stick with IWB as I feel it's easiest to conceal.

What holster/setup do you use?

P.S. I carry my 1911 at 3:00 IWB and sometimes it's awfully uncomfortable especially in the car. Any suggestions?

Kahr MK9 on the belt in a Silent Thunder STX, or rarely in the waist in a Silent Thunder, PM9 in a Galco ankle glove.

For deep carry, a Smartcarry.

Sometimes I'll carry the XDm in a Serpa.

Prefer a Brommeland MaxCon V IWB holster with a 4" Kimber Pro CDP.
Second most carry option for me is a Kahr PM9 in a DeSanti pocket holster.
There are other occasions that I will go with an OWB and a full size 1911, among other setups of IWB or other mode of carry, depending on.................

Have you thought about alternative carry while driving? It can be almost impossible to draw a gun while sitting buckeled up in a car rendering it useless if escape is not an option.

Deep carry is Ruger LCP at 3:00 IWB, any other time is Ruger P95 at 3:00 OWB. I'll grab my P-64 if I'm just going out to the store, that has a ClipDraw on it and goes at 3:00 too.

J-frame, IWB 4 o'clock, shoulder rig if I don't have a belt for some reason unless Mrs. C. sees me going for the shoulder rig then she stuffs it in her purse. 1911 in a Serpa if appropriate for the venue.

AIWB to 2 o'clock. Very comfortable in the car and still accessible.

Most of the time I carry an XD-40 Service in Sideguard Holster's Double Snap Tuck IWB holster. It sits just behind my right hip and I can reach it fairly well even when sitting. When I carry the Kahr CW40 I use a Galco USA IWB holster. An Uncle Mike's IWB cordura holster is used with the Iver Johnson TP 22 the rare times I carry that gun. All are kept in the same place as the XD. If I were to switch the position I probably would never find it, I still feel the wrong pocket for my car keys even though its been a decade since I changed sides.

Pocket, snub .38 or an LCP if I'm just walking the dog across the street in the church parking lot.

When a meth head charges your car at 3 am you'd be suprised how fast you can retrieve a handgun from front pocket or waistband. Ask me how I know ;)

5" 1911 in a pancake belt holster. i carry it at 4 o'clock and it's not an issue when i'm buckled up in a car. however, i don't really go for long drives with it. when i DO go on a long-ish drive, it's in the center console
