G26 vs G27

G26 vs G27
Found a G27 I can pick up for around $350 with no mags. Thinking of getting it and selling off my G26. Thoughts ?

Just depends if you want to 9 or a 40. I own the 27 and it is a little handful, not painful but not a range gun either.

It would not be a range gun, it would hang on my belt 24/7

I'm probably in the minority but I'd go with a 26. I find the .40 more snappy and 9mm is cheaper to practice with. But that's just my opinion.

The biggest mistake I see people make is they ask their wife if they can get a new gun.

They look so similar she doesn't have to know you have 2. "It's the Glock honey" Don't throw in the 26 , 27 thing. My wife thinks I have a black gun and a black and silver gun. So as long as I keep getting black ones or black and silver ones I'm good.

I like the 26 better then the 27 also. i have a 26 and have no desire for a 27. Thats just me. I carry it on occasion it is a nice gun.

I say buy it, pick up some mags, try it out and resell it if you dont like it. im not a fan of 40 though so id probably just resell it for a small profit

I have a G26 and shoot it almost exactly as well as my G19, and enjoy shooting it. My brother has a G27 as a backup to his issued G22 (WI DNR). I've shot it, and I'm not a huge fan, but he likes it. I also have a G23 I shoot a little but I don't like it as much or shoot it as well as the nines.

Unless you're looking for ammo compatibility between your duty gun and your off duty/backup, and since there's many nine loads with the performance and penetration almost exactly the same as a forty, I'd say stay with the G26. YMMV, of course. There's always a reason to buy it; to have a new gun. That's why I buy many of the things I do. ;)

If you do buy it and end up selling one, check the sights on both and make sure you keep the best ones.

26 over 27 any day, the 27 is a handful and can lead to flinching. I sold mine. I now have a 26

Here is what I asked myself, what can I afford to shoot more?

.40 is about 50% more expensive than 9mm and with a good quality HP you arent giving anything up in expansion or penetration.

It's always easier to ask for forgiveness then it is to ask for permission when it comes to wifes.

Several years ago I gave a lifelong friend my G26, and about a year or so ago we went to the range with the intention of discerning what, if any, difference there was recoil-wise between his G26 and my G27. He'd shoot a mag from the 26 and then a mag from the 27, I'd do the same, and we repeated the serious experiment :) until we believed we had sufficient data, er, I mean until we eventually ran out of WWB.

Neither of us could notice any real difference in recoil at all. We weren't rapid firing, however, and we only used WWB ammo, so I suppose accuracy and/or perceived recoil could differ between the two with a hotter pace or hotter ammo or both. In fact, the last time I shot 165-grain Federal HSTs, the 27 kicked more than I expected. Can't remember what the 124+P Gold Dots I used to shoot out of the 26 felt like, as it was a long time ago.

I really like these subcompact Glocks a lot and think both are outstanding. I just happen to prefer the G27.

Cheers,
Eagun
