I will be looking at one. I have an SW M&P 9c and like it. Also have a 5" M&P 9 for range work. (Those of you that know me, know shoot a 1911.)

SW Schield: W = 0.950 OAL = 6.100 H = 4.6 Barrel = 3.100 Capacity = 7+1 (8+1 extended mag)

SW M&P 9c: W = 1.077 OAL = 6.750 H = 4.375 Barrel = 3.500 Capacity = 12 +1
Because I care, I carry.

cool deal - interested to hear how it rocks.

why everyone gotta be putting those damn manual safety's on small pocket guns? is Kahr the only one who has a single stack no external safety? i hate those damn things - i want a true point and click interface!!!

My Kel-Tec PF9 doesn't have a safety.

Mine neither but half the time it fails to eject, and jams. Sent the slide assy back to Kel-Tec. Never heard another word about it. May end up selling the frame for fitty sents or so!

May jus use it as a sinker while fishing.

I can't see Kel-Tec staying in business till the end of this year what with the quality, and fine customer service the have!

I'll wait a month. If they don't send it back, or at least reply, then you may get it cheap! Actually, even if they do fix it, you may still get it cheap. It jammed at least once, I won't trust MY life with it ever again

9MM. As far as I know, these are the only ones shipping.

Mine works great. I offered you $20 for your PF9 that you hate. You never responded to me.

M&P Shield

Postby JoeH on Thu Apr 12, 2012 2:12 pm

This will be a hot seller. I can't wait to shoot one.

Good job to S&W for introducing a new product and having units in the pipeline at the same time.

Why does it have a manual safety when the rest of the M&P line does not? Doesn't make sense...

Was surprised to see Cabelas (Rogers) had an M&P Shield in the case when I went in this afternoon. The sales guy said they had a .40 in stock, but couldn't seem to find it anywhere.

The gun itself feels great. It doesn't look much slimmer than the M&P 40c I normally carry, but in the holster it feels MUCH smaller. Speaking of holster... The front of the trigger guard is the same shape, and in almost the same location, as the M&P Compact. Because of this, the retention tab/trigger cover on my Comp-Tac IWB holster is in an almost perfect spot. The gun fits in this holster 95% perfect. It's a little loose without adjusting the retention, but feels perfect combined with a belt.

I had a short discussion with the salesperson about MSRP, selling price, and the difference. He said "You're only going to find one here, so we should be talking about how lucky you are we're not charging a premium." This kind of caused my interest in buying a new firearm to wane a bit. Too bad, I was really impressed by the gun.

Looks like Smith beat Glock into the 9mm single stack market. If this is as good as advertised, I see a lot of coppers using this for ODC, and civvies using it for concealed carry. Slimmer than a G26, and you only give up 2 rounds?

Kind of reminds me of my 3953; except probably lighter with the poly frame, but same 8+1 count and compact, slim size. Get rid of the safety and I might buy one, and I imagine it'll be an option later on to skip that.
