My WWI repro ran me $1k right on the nuts. I love it so much, I wouldn't even sell it for $1500. You should be able to pick one up for around $1k to $1200 if you keep your eyes peeled. If you find one, don't hesistate. They move quick!

I have a Smith & Wesson E-Series up on Gunbroker right now. NIB, T/A model I'd let go to a local buyer for $1069.00 plus tax. You'd have to make the drive to Lindstrom though.

if I didn't already have five .45 S&W 1911's, this one'd be mine!

awful lotta gun fer the money, there!

sounded like after they moved the plant to Maine a couple years ago, they had a couple issues ... but, like Dan Wesson, Springfield, and possibly kimber, I'd guess by now, they got all them resolved!

some might whine bout the external extractor ... I spose, if ya gotta whine bout somethin'! Image

By the way, every time I see your avatar, I'm reminded of my boxer:

I will get flamed for this, but I think Colt is way over rated, therefore overpriced for what you get.

The choice on a Kimber Classic stainless is a much better choice, although I think a Springfield Armory is hard to beat for the buck.

You can't knock a colt until you've owned one. The difference in quality is obvious once you shoot one, take it apart, reassemble, etc. I'd never go to another brand again.

What about the 9mm 1911 (I know 1911's are "supposed" to be 45's, but for competition, its cheaper to shoot) that STI makes? Reliable? Or is the 9mm not a "proper" cartridge to function the 1911 action properly?
