It is a very comfortable holster and can be used as IWB or OWB so it's like getting two holsters in one. Custom made by hand with great craftsmanship! Search YouTube for more info.

I have CompTac Minotar for IWB carry. Its got a lot of nice features (alot of the same features you will find on the other holsters being discussed here). I dont think you can go wrong with quality mass produced holsters (Comptac, safari land, galgo, bladtech, etc...) or with any of the smaller custom or semi custom shops making holsters (several good ones here in MN).

As others have mentioned- belt up! If your belt is not holding the gun upright and to your body you will never be comfortable, additionally you will never achieve concealment as the butt of the gun will constantly be falling over/sticking out.

I am a small guy ( 5'7" 135lbs) I carry a Commander sized 1911 90% of the time. Carrying my guns IWB at the 4-5oclock position has never been comfortable or a good fit for me. I have gone to a high riding OWB holster carried at 3-4 oclock, in the summer I pull my t-shirt over it for "concealment".

Best of luck!

I'm also looking for a good holster as well, so I'm open to commendations. My carry weapon is probably going to be larger than what most people recommend. I know there are some smaller guns out there for carry, maybe I'll get an XDs .45 and go that route, but for now, I'm starting out with my XDm .45 that has the 4.5" barrel and overall 7" in length.

1) Prefer comfortable. I know that's a "feel" thing, so I'll just have to try them out. This leads me to my next question.....

2) How does one "try out" a holster? It's not like you can walk into a store, discretely handle your gun to try out holsters without people freaking out, can you?

3) I don't wear a belt, nor jeans. Most of the time, shorts, casual pants, sweats sometimes. I'm looking for a good, secure able holster both in how it secures to me and also the gun. I'd like a strap to help hold it in (as well as prevent a gun-grab)

4) I don't know if I want a holster that sits on the inside or the outside of my pants. What are the pros and cons of both, generally speaking that is?

5) What does a "good" holster cost? Price-range-wise I mean.

6) What kind of material is a "good" holster made out of and how is it constructed?

7) I would also like a holster for an extra magazine as well. Is it best to have this as a separate holster by itself, or built into the gun holster so it's all-in-one?

8) Regarding the extra magazine holster, 1 mag or 2?

IMHO, those two are mutually exclusive. Smart Carry is probably one of your few options unless you like THIS look.
