I'll be honest, I shot a G19 Gen 3 a few weeks back that was nice, but he reshaped the grip, stippled the **** out of it, added a magwell had TFOs on, and a 3 pound disc :P onnector in the trigger. He said that I could fo every mod for under $200 after getting the gun if I shopped around. I said I could just get an XDm and be done

No Glocks in my future

If you don't mind the firing pin retainer pin breaking and rendering the pistol completely useless, I agree. I've seen it happen and it's happened to many others. They ditched this design flaw on the new XD-S

Not to steer this thread in another direction but....HUH??? I own a XDm...haven't heard about that problem....got a link?

yeah, me too! i don't have any polymer pistols, XDm, Glock, or otherwise, but the ones that i've fired that are the best in MY hands are the XDm's.

firing pin retainer pin breaking?! that's news to me...

Google it. Tons of threads. Lot's of guys are putting triple thick one's in that are supposedly tougher to break. Dry firing can increase the odds of it happening. Here's a couple threads from the many at xdtalk. It's bound to fail at some time. I don't mind the XD's at all, but I'd put one of those titanium pins in for sure.

Uncle Bernie just got done milling one out and upsizing the pin just the other day - he has done like 5 of them. XD is a great pistol and they certainly do have their following - I just happen to like the Glock; it just shoots better for me.

Agreed. I'm just not a fan of Glocks. I could buy one of each model if I wanted to, trick them out, no problem.... they just aren't my thing though. Some of it is looks, but mostly it's feel. I know lots of people love Glocks (and more power to those who do), but I prefer my XDm. I also tend to be really picky, so it's not that I'm brand-loyal to Springfield, Ruger, S&W, etc.... It's more the feel of a certain model and many times of an individual gun as well (even among the same male and model too).

As for the pin breaking on the XDm, I use snap caps when dry firing, and that helps quite a bit. I've heard and read they will break when dry firing, which is one reason I don't do that a lot anyway.

I've had one of those too actually...with the budget ammo it did anyway

"updated" extractor did fix that issue though. I love my RTF2's....no hiccups or issues at all with those pistols.

1911's are my favorite, too. I've considered getting custom grips made that have the Big G on them, so I'd have "1911 Perfection."

I took a defence course a few years back, and my primary was a 1911 Lightweight Commander, with a secondary a G36. The Commander gave me much malfunction drill practice, but my G36 was flawless! :( Ah, well.

Bless me father for I have sinned.

I shot my brothers glock 17 gen 3 yesterday. It was very nice. My main reason for not liking glocks was its not comfortable in my hand and well be honest... its ugly. He put on a hogue grip that slides on to his grip. That made a world of difference. Felt awesome. Still ugly. But shoots awesome. I was pleasantly surprised by it. I was talking crap about its sights with the little goal post on it and then I shot it. Those sights make it really easy to shoot.

Ran it through some drills. Slow fire= great, rapids fire= heck yeah, and drawing from the holster and dumping out all the ammo into the steel target at 15 yards = not a problem.

I might just have to pick one of these things up. But my 1911 is still my favorite.

That's pretty much what happened to me about 4 years ago. Picked up a new G17 to use as a second gun/range gun, realized how truly awesome it was, and quickly replaced my XD45 (which was a POS anyway) with a G21. That summer, I picked up a G26 for warm weather carry. I've never looked back.

I just can't get used to the goal post. I'd like to try a Glock with some aftermarket 3 dot sights and see if I shoot it any better.

I hated them, too, although I could hit pretty well with them. All my Glocks have either the factory night sights (Meprolight) or Trijicons. Far, far better, IMHO.

Interesting that the Glock is so hated - it is the best selling pistol brand in the world - even the IDF is using them.
