My new to me 45

Postby CarRacer on Fri Oct 19, 2012 7:44 am

Picked up a new to me 45 yesterday, a FNP 45. As a lefty, I've been eyeing one of these up for a while as they have ambidextrous controls. I haven't shot it yet but my first impression is that it's a monster. I know it's a double stack 45 with a 15 round capacity but it's still large and in charge. Trigger pulls feels nice dry firing and it points well for me so far. I'm very interested in how it shoots as the couple reviews I've read says they're very accurate.

I included a pic next to my Kahr CW45 to show the size difference. I know they are designed for different needs but the two ends of the size spectrum contrasted like that is kind of funny to me.

is that the model with the mount for a red dot? those are some VERY cool guns, i really like them. hell, i think you'd actually hold onto this one for a little while.

did you get any goodies with it? like a holster or any other mags (despite the three it came with)?
saying that guns kill people is like saying that spoons made Rosie O'Donnell fat.

if God wanted us to drink whiskey, he would have given us stomaches

I'm a little teapot...

No, this isn't the tactical model with the threaded barrel and optic. I don't think this is the base mode either as it has front side serrations and you can cock and lock it which you can't do on the base model. I didn't receive any extras either but I'm left handed so I don't care about holsters. I'm not sure about keeping it, but I'm starting to get a really good idea of what guns I like and what I'm trying to accomplish. I like target shooting and 45acp which this thing seems like a damn good match for. I'm not going to say I'll keep it but there's less of a chance I get rid of it. :P

I just left the range and it shoots really easily and accurately. The only part where the large size of the grip was a detriment was dropping the slide on a fresh mag, reaching my finger around the safety/decocker to the slide release was a bit tricky. Having 15 rounds of 45 on tap is pretty slick though, I'm happy with picking it up.

Makes me miss mine... My first handgun (first gun i bought myself as well) was an FNP45 USG. Accurate, light recoiling, but a pain in the butt to conceal.

Nice meeting you as well. Nope, work was super boring and I didn't get to shoot once.

Excellent choice of 45's

I looked at the FN Comp online butt I couldn't find anyone in town that had one in stock at the time. I have an old G21 Gen2 and just sold my Para Ordnance 14-45 so I like me some big 45's.

You'll have to keep us in formed on how you like it.
