All these guys that talk about low caliber ammo not doing much damage to the human body tissue... Should go read the FBI crime reports on gun fire deaths in MN. Guns as small as a .25 caliber has killed people before.
I will turn in my firearms and not carry a gun for my own protection. When our Government Leaders stop hiding behind man's that carry guns to protect them.

Forget .25 cal, the 22 lr kills plenty of people each year.

.22 is a GREAT round for killing...yourself, because you can put the muzzle right onto your target of choice.

How many people NOT holding the .22 are killed by that caliber?

I think we're forgetting some of our basic tenets here. All guns have the ability to kill. Some might be more likely to kill than others, but all firearms have the ability to end a life with a single shot.

Granted I'm preaching to the choir here, but I think that's important in any "is this caliber powerful enough for ____" discussion. Even a .22 short can stop an attacker... although I certainly wouldn't choose that as my carry weapon! We're always riding that fine line between adequate power, capacity, size, shape, weight (concealability/carry-ability).

I prefer .38spl +p and 9mm in my carry guns, as it seems like a decent compromise to me. .22LR would be way too small, and although I like larger calibers, I don't find many guns in .45ACP that would fit my needs for carry. That's my own personal opinion.

Aside form the reliability questions that rimfire cartridges bring, I do think that a pistol like the PMR-30 could be good in this role if the shooter was well trained with the weapon. Multiple hits from a .22 Magnum would be quite a discouragement to an attacker, methinks. It's just a case of trading power for capacity.

In the end, pistols are pistols. No handgun is going to be a 100% reliable "manstopper." There are just too many factors in play, handguns are a compromise by design.

A bb gun has killed, those hold 100's of rounds and have no recoil.

Does that make it a valid carry weapon?

There's a difference between lethality and incapacitation.
Don't know what I mean? See the reports on the FBI shootout in Miami, circa 1986.

I had practice in the art of throwing sand, versus having no weapon to defend myself with.. lol

My pocket sand is black. It's more tactical that way.
