latest night sight reviews?

Postby EJSG19 on Sun Nov 18, 2012 9:35 pm

I've got a couple pistols that have outlived their night sights. I am used to Trijicon night sights and nothing else.

What other brands would you say are leading the way for pistol night sights right now? I haven't got a clue other than stick with what works.

I hate saying "stick with what works", but when it comes to Trijicon night sights.....stick with what works.

I am all for innovation and trying out new things, but when it comes to night sights, I upgrade to Trijicon models. I have tried other styles, but because many are 3 dot Tritium inserted sights, that is what works for me in night sights (as long as it isn't competition use).

Other than trijicon, the only thing I use is Ameriglo. They use Trijicon vials.

What gun are you looking at night sights for? There are a lot of quality night sights out there. Trijicon and Meprolights are the two manufactures of the actual tritium tubes and night sights. Other aftermarket night sights usually use trijicon vials. Depending on the gun, there are many different styles. I personally like Warren Tactical night sights. I also like Ameriglo. Ameriglo probably has the most selection of different sight setups.

Sights are a very personal thing. What works well for one person may not work well for another. Find out what features you prefer in a sight, just know that you might go through a couple of sets untill you find what works best for you.

I'm a fan of the Heinie Straight 8 Slant Pros. But, I've also never had reason to complain about Trijicons.

I have Trijicon on my XD-M, no complaints, however the Big Dot has my attention as well as the TFO's.

I will turn in my firearms and not carry a gun for my own protection. When our Government Leaders stop hiding behind man's that carry guns to protect them.

Where is the best place around town (I am in the SW metro) to have Trijicon sites added to my XD?

Thank you.

Bill's should have them, you can also call Arnzen although I am not sure if they do installs. Maybe solidgun will chime in.

I talked to Arnzen already and then can not install.

Last time I had it done at Bills. Just looking for options.

Thank you.

It isn't that bad to do yourself either; I just use a vise and plastic/brass punch.

I cracked a vile doing it myself the first time. Second time I used 2 c clamps and a few violations of the laws if physics. Pay $20 and have it done by a smith with a pusher or borrow a pusher. I think there is a pusher loaner post on this board somewhere.
