Actually, the break in procedure for rifle barrels has been disputed by many who regard it as "voodoo" and potentially more harmful than good.

The benchrest community has long advocated NOT cleaning a barrel until accuracy is diminished (too much fouling eventually will effect bullet flight). They've found more harm is done scrubbing the chamber and bore than leaving the gunk in it until it needs to be removed.
The first few rounds might take some burrs off the bore left from machining, but putting a patch or 20 through it probably won't have any impact on allowing the bullets to keep working those off.
