They sent me several taped to a piece of cardboard. It looked like a premade package like someone made a bunch adn put them in manila envelopes ready to send.

Well I have so far managed not to loose any so if anyone needs one I have a spare.

Kimber??

No, the disassembly tool. I could never give away a Kimber, they are too much fun to shoot.

OK call me picky, I use the plastic coated paper clips so I have no chance of scratching anything. I made up about a dozen and have given half of them away after folks admire them. They look pretty offical all color coated. I tried the handle dip in a small allen wrench but it was to thick and soft.

Having a couple drawers full of 1911's and not a single Kimber, what is this blasphemy that needs a tool not original to the gun for disassembly? someone have a pic of the location and a description of the need?

It is a function of the full length guide rod. There is a hole in the guide rod to allow for keeping the spring compressed during disassembly to retain the reversed recoil spring plug.

Blasphemy? Nope. Bull Barrel sans bushing? Yep.

Here is the tool

Here is the hole in question..

Here is how the tool works for disassembly

And here is how the tool allows removal of the recoil spring and guide rod.

Any questions? :D

ETA: Firearm can be disassembled w/o tool, but barrel can't be removed without it. Also, not all Kimbers require this tool for disasembly, only the ones without the barrel bushing.

I have to admit, as a new Kimber owner the takedown procedure was a headscratcher, but now that I've done it, it's not a big deal. I would prefer if it was a no tool procedure, but it's not the end of the world.

That's really an interesting design, which actually improves accuracy, while also making for a much smoother transition from slide lock to battery. Me likes it.

Yeah, but who really pays attention to what's going on in the British shooting community...? Now if we were talking about the French, there would be reason for discussion...

The French represent the "no shoots". The only thing that the French shoot is a cork.
