Finally picked up the XDs!

Postby CIBOIF on Fri Feb 01, 2013 4:01 pm

Yes after Thunderjohn being stricken with the flu and then it hitting me and my household hard, I finally recovered and was able to pick up my new Springfield XDs Bi-Tone in .45ACP. A couple extra magazines and some ammo and tomorrow will be the maiden voyage at the range. Thanks Thunderjohn for being my "go to guy" for nearly all my firearm purchases.

I will follow up with my findings and a range report.

Very nice carry piece there!

Get a Pearce grip extension (or two).

Sweet little gun. First XD I've liked to be honest. Love the fact they ditched the firing pin retaining roll pin and just went with the Glock stirker system like they should have done with the original XD :D

Too bad they didn't ditch the ejector roll pin as well. That looks like a nice ghetto piece with the shiny slide.

The shininess of the slide is partly due to the flash and that I shot the photo with the iPhone. Its more of Gun Metal Grey with a dull sheen.

That's a nice gun and is likely to be my next purchase too.

I've shot a couple of them and they handle very well and are also quite concealable. Plus they're not likely to be banned!

That gun is next on my hit list to get. Money isn't the problem, but finding one local is.

Why does it have to be local? Then you have to pay sales tax....

I had my magazines sent via FedEx end up at the neighbor's house. No way am I having a gun do that. I'll pay the tax. It's worth the peace of mind.

Looks like a mini version of my XDm which is also bi-tone. I wonder if Thunderjohn has any more?

No he doesn't have any more in stock, at least not today. You can give him a shout and see how long one would take to get in.

Yeah, I just fired off an email. Are those the 5 or 7 round mags in the photo?

5 rounders. I bought the last two he had. He thought he had an extra 7 rounder but could not find it so it must have sold. It is surprisingly comfortable in the hand and feels thinner than the CW 45 and more comfortable. I think the addition of the Pearce Grip Extension would be nice but not necessary. That said I have ordered a couple to try out. The trigger feels as good or better than the XDM's and has a very short reset. I am going to add some Talon adhesive grips as is standard for all my polymer handguns.

I'm envious! I've handled the XDs and really liked it. I don't know if they have released it in 9mm, but will probably buy one when they do.

Got anything positive to say? WTF. It doesn't look or act like a "ghetto piece."
