Well, I guess it was you that said a gun is just a tool to you, you buy what you need and no more. I guess with that attitude get a couple guns and sit tight. To most of us that's a foreign thought process, some of us are gypsies with the buying/selling/trading...

Yeah, I don't want 40 different guns or 40 different calibers. I have my Ruger Mark III 2245 for a cheap shoot at the range and for the 45 grip on it as well as being an emergency backup firearm in a SHTF situation. I bought my Springfield XDm .45ACP for self defense of my life and the lives of my family, along with if there's ever a SHTF situation. That's it. That's the sole purpose I bought them. Each gun was purchased with a specific purpose in mind. If it doesn't have a purpose and if I don't need it or use it, I don't buy it.

Right now I only have those 2 calibers. I'm looking at a Springfield XDs .45AC and a Ruger 10/22, both in the same calibers I already have, so I increase my arsenal and keep them in the same caliber. A Ruger 10/22 and a .22LR pistol are two firearms everyone should own for their reliability and versatility.

Other than that, I may add a 3rd caliber by getting a revolver in .357 because revolvers are simpler and more reliable than a semi-automatic is. I'd get a shotgun, an AR-15, and maybe a 30-30 or 30-06, but that's it. If I got all that, it's up to 6 different calibers, which is more than I want because it's expensive to stock up large quantities of ammo in multiple calibers. I also probably wouldn't shoot the refiles/shotgun except for a SHTF situation or to keep them functional. I do see the advantages of owning each.

I'm not a collector, I don't drool over any gun because if I want it, I just buy it. No point in lusting after it. Write the check. If I wanted a $2,000 Kimber or Dan Wesson 1911, I'd buy it. that's all. I get that I'm probably far from the norm on here when it comes to firearms, but I have a great passion for the individual, rights and freedom, which firearms afford all of us.

To me, a gun is a tool, nothing more, nothing less. It's a tool designed to keep me and mine alive and free. I enjoy shooting, it's fun, I enjoy the camaraderie, the community, but that's just how I am. Kudos to those who use firearms as a hobby, who collect and share their toys. I've fired some mighty nice firearms and the people are generally nice in the community.

Thanks for sharing. Since the odds are vastly stacked against you having to use those guns as tools to defend your freedom, you may want to find a way to get some enjoyment out of them.

So this is why I just hang out and never post to these threads. Then people bitch about guys who only post on the market place. Well with butt nugget comments like the quote below its no wonder. :(

I'm glad you took the time to reply. How's that for being positive?

Ghetto guns gotta have bling. That's why glocks aren't that popular with the hood rats. The XDs is a ghetto gun. No law abiding citizen needs a pistol that small with a blinged out slide. He should have got one with an FDE or OD green slide to show his support for the troops. Or perhaps he's supporting some other group with that shemagh in the background.

Well, I don't live in the ghetto and don't really know what you mean by a "hood rat." Do you live in the ghetto? Maybe if you do, you should move and be happier. If you don't like the slide on the XDs, thats your opinion and perhaps it would serve you better to keep that kind of moron dribble to yourself.

Now on to the biggest thing that pisses me off. WTF does a FDE or OD colored slide have to do with support of the troops??????? I was a troop for 22 years and was cut short of getting to 30 by being wounded bad enough that it ended my career. I am a retired US Army Infantryman with 3 combat tours of duty and 7 deployments outside CONUS. Spent over half of my Christmas's gone from my family. That shemagh is a symbol of my service in the near east and a place in which I spent 5 total years deployed to, 3 of which were in direct combat zones conducting raids and patrols... Sheesh... And you think it has something to do with terrorism or some pro Islamic thing???? It's something I used as the background for the photo, put down the "Catcher and the Rye" and show some respect for the troops. Maybe you can duracoat a HiPoint in FDE and post a photo because that will show support for the troops.... Or you could shut up, and donate some time and money to the Wounded Warrior Project its a great organization and has been a tremendous help to me and my family.

PS
Why don't you PM me your home address so I can send some Troll Hunters over to you...

Now back to the thread topic and ending this hijack...
Range Report:

I found the XDs to be a very accurate and sweet shooter. Recoil is manageable but is stouter than a Glock 36 but not uncomfortable. I have shot some .38 Special snub nosed revolvers that were just unpleasant. This is not like that at all.

With some Talon adhesive grips it will be even more comfortable. I also may get a couple of Pearce Pinky extensions for the mag floor plates. That may give the extra bit of grip purchase on the firearm.

150 Rounds all at 21 to 25 feet and all ran through it with ease, sans the few issues Stan had with ejecting and failure to go into battery. That I am sure was caused by his grip and hand placement while shooting as this did not happen for me.

Groups were very decent. I achieved about a 2.5 inch grouping of 20 rounds (I shot a series of 20 with four 5 round mags) at my best go today. Yeah, I know it's not super awesome but then I wasn't benching it and firing groups of 3. That would more than likely render sub inch groups with the XDs.

I am very comfortable carrying this as my every day firearm. For me, it shot just a bit right of my point of aim. I had consistent groups like this so I may get the sight tool out and move the rear sight a tad to the left.

So now back home and cleaning up after a fun range day.

Glad you like it. Thanks again.
And thank you for your service.
I'm glad you let the troll know your service history as I was about to.
No excuse for stupid comments like those were.

The main pigment supplier of FDE and OD green contribute a fair amount of money to the Wounded Warriors fund from what I've heard. I don't know what the problem is with the gunmetal, nickel and chrome suppliers but they're not as patriotic unless you tell them it's for a back to the 50's show car.

How did you know about my HiPoint project? I've spent a lot of money, time ,and effort acquiring my HiPoint with the current market conditions. I was almost talked into buying a Wilson Combat 1911 but you can tell it didn't have the same craftsmanship as the HiPoint. Just by picking up the HiPoint .45 you feel the extra metal they put into producing such a quality firearm. It's also only available in black so you don't have the wrong sort of crowd buying it it just on looks.

Sometimes when I post photos of my guns draped on my kaftan people mistake me terrorist or a troll. I think I know how you feel.

How did your XDs perform at 1000 yards?

For a minute I was thinking you were serious. Thanks for clearing that up, as well as the laughs. Good stuff right there.

So it's the pigment supplier for the paint that is then sold by Cerekote, or Duracoat that is supporting the troops by giving funds to the Wounded Warrior Project not the purchaser of the firearm. If you think that buying a firearm with this type of finish is supporting the troops your deluded. That, at best, is pennies on the dollars in the total value of the firearm and you think that is really supporting our service members? Again put your money where your mouth is, give real dollars to a veterans organization it would do far more good than buying a gun with a paint job that was provided by a firearm manufacture that got the material from a paint vendor who in turn got the pigment from a sub vendor that happens to give some money to veterans groups.

Also what is with the 1000 yard comment? We get it! You hate the XDs and more than likely have never fired one. Its not my favorite handgun but it has everything I was looking for in a small concealed carry firearm for every day use.

Why don't you just clearly state your opinions rather than make a poor attempt at clever satire...
Kaftan that's funny you using you Google or wiki to look up pieces of clothing popular among the Islamic world. I don't think trolls wear Kaftans or Caftans or Shemaghs for that matter but there were plenty of terrorists and insurgents that we killed wearing them.

You clearly haven't spent much time here. What you're complaining about? That's EXACTLY how this forum works.

That goes beyond snark and is just rude and poor form. If that is the case then watch the FU#K OUT because I can get my inner troll on!

Maybe I should post in Hebrew, French, and Latin to show how learned, smug and snarky I can be.
