Walther P22

My wife loved the Browning Buckmark Camper, costs more than some of the Umarex pot metal guns but highly accurate + reliable with a great trigger and "real gun" heft. Not a bad companion for your CZ-75, the controls, balance and grip angle are similar in the 4".

We have a P22 and it works really well although the only ammo we've put through it is CCI mini mags with are almost non existent for the time being.

I'm actually leaning more towards one of those as opposed to the SR22 to be honest. I like them better than any of the Rugers.

I have a friend that has one, he used to have another one he sold but regretted and replaced. Both of his ate up everything, although I used to hear some of the P22's were picky with ammo, I haven't seen it first hand.

Never have a single problem with the first one I bought in I think 2008 and I would regularly go 500-1000 rounds of Thunderbolts without cleaning or oiling it. I believe Grouse even saw me throw it in a muddy lake and take it out and get a couple shots off. I have one of the new P22Q's now and I have I think 300 rounds of Thunderbolts and CCI Stingers through it without a single hiccup. As for the Sig Mosquito's my buddy had one that would not eat anything reliably no matter how clean or oiled it was, I thought it was straight junk but I only have expirence with that one pistol.

Yea, no way I'd buy a P22 with the SR22 out. Walther doesn't even make the P22, Umarex does. I think it has a low grade metal slide to...like a pot metal of some sort? I could be wrong.

Can you prove that the P22 is made by Umarex? Seems a lot of people think this but none can prove it, a lot of placed a call to Walther and asked and were told it is made by Walther.

My input on this is that I'd go with the Ruger SR22 before the Walther. I liked the Sig Mosquito as well, but was turned off when it didn't RELIABLY function cheap .22 ammo. I think a .22 that only works well with the more expensive stuff is pointless.

If it's not for self defense, is it really a big deal if it doesn't go bang every time? I mean, we're talking cheap .22LR rimfire ammo, not CCI's etc that rarely, if ever, are an issue. If it is for self defense or competition, use quality ammo.

Otherwise pull the trigger a second time, boom... problem solved, or work on failure drills.

Have you looked at the Sig Mosquito? Seems like a decent firearm, though I don't have any first hand experience.

Yeah, I can see that Thunder, I just enjoy the reliability of a gun when I'm shooting. I get too many issues, and it goes back to the case until I'm not sick of the issues again, some other day.

wife didn't like the rugers at Gander, and I didn't like the one I qualified with. The 9mm jammed constantly.

I picked up a P22 about two years ago for the wife’s first gun. I have been able to shoot any ammo, including the cheaper bulk stuff without any issues. The wife did have issues with the cheaper ammo, but it is 100 percent reliable for her with CCI Stingers. I believe she was limp wristing the gun, and the little bit hotter ammo makes up for that.

I took my new P22 out yesterday and out of 100 rounds of cci mini mag, I had one FTE. Next week I will run bulk Remington Golden through it to compare. One thing is for sure, it is fun to shoot.

I owned a mosquito, and never could get it to run 100%. My S&W M&P22 has been 100% reliable.

And here is another interesting fact... The M&P22 is made by Walther in Germany and imported by Smith and Wesson.
