A +1, but don't let a few mags make the choice. As you said...they would be for training. But if you train with a compact that has an extended mag, and carry with a standard mag it won't shoot the same. Or more to the point, you might hold it differently.

Assuming you're carrying two gun (one as a back-up), you would be wise to get one that takes the same magazines. Also, a laser will improve hip shooting accuracy. A conceal carry badge is also crucial in case someone makes a stink about the open carry.
