My XDs and Blue Gun

Postby XDM45 on Thu Mar 14, 2013 7:15 pm

Tonight I bought an XDs from jimbob85 on here for $700. Only 250 rounds through it and it came with all of the usual goodies + about 20 rounds of JHP and an extra IWB Holster to boot.

Below that is my XD45 Blue Gun which fits the custom made XOWB holster for the XDm .45ACP surprisingly well. I wish I found an exact match for a blue gun, but it's close enough. This version is non-weighted, but I found a weighted one for $70 I plan on getting as well so I can practice with bot a weighted and non-weighted XD pistol. I bought that off of Amazon.

So...who has a Ruger 10/22 for sale with some BX25 mags?? (GRIN) That's next up on my to buy list.

oh.... and in case anyone is wondering. nope., Not giving up OC. This is a backup carry / spare pistol / spare .45ACP / CC only if I must vs not at all purchase I made tonight.

Arnzen Arms had two XDs today. I held the all black one and really liked it.

Congrats on a nice CC gun. I want to get one at some point.
Be sure and let us know how it shoots. I've heard it described as 'snappy'.

Thanks man. Yeah I hear they have some kick, so I'll see how it goes. Nothing I can't handle I'm sure. I wish brass stacker made a tungsten carbide recoil rod for the XDs.

Were you able to find a blue gun to safely practice draws with the XDs? Since it's a new gun I'm not sure it it's available yet.

Honestly?

If all you are practicing is the draw without any other individuals involved, I'd just go ahead and practice with the actual handgun.

Step 1. Unload firearm in a room that is not your training room.
Step 2. Triple check the firearm and magazine. Replace in case.
Step 3. Enter training room, ensure any and all live ammunition is removed.
Step 4. Open case, retrieve empty gun.
Step 5. Confirm gun's status of empty, triple check
Step 6. Begin draw practice/training

The only time I see a use for blue guns is if you're doing some form of scenario training where other people are in the room, as it is undesirable to point a firearm at another person.

1) I'll look into the barrel replacements. Good idea.

2) I did buy the blue gun for scenario training with other people as well. I currently do dry fire practice with my actual firearm, but prefer not to. No matter how careful you are with it, it's still a real gun and there is ALWAYS a risk. Err on the side of safety - even to the point of OCD-like paranoia because you can NEVER be "too safe" around firearms.

3) No XDs blue gun to my knowledge, so either I need to get one when it comes out or get the barrel replacement for it.

Yea, dealer cost is about the same as a Glock. They're just not readily available (like everything else)

They weren't much more than that yesterday new, at AA. I was carrying a G26 yesterday in a very thin kydex IWB holster.
The XDs fit perfectly in the same holster. I just called Bill's and they have one in their rental case, going to go try it.
