I think it's entirely possible. There's just 3 screws at the end that looks to be all that hold it on.

Looks like I would have to send it in so they could drill and tap it. It sure does look sweet with that brake on it!

Yeah, i would guess they could either do it, or if you have a good local gunsmith, that they would be able to do it as well. It's not much heavier with it on, but does look impressive.

If the zombie apocalypse ever does happen, this thing should keep a few away.

Still can't get over the fact that the wife shot it, and was the first one to shoot it last night. That was pretty cool!

Hmmm... Hadn't realized it had a brake on it, but I was kind of subconsciously thinking that it looked like a longslide version that I hadn't seen before. The brake is probably a very good idea, but not JUST for the recoil. I can go through 100 rounds of DE50 ammo one handed in one session and it's no big deal, BUT the DE50 is notorious for chucking those big, hot (300 F.?!?) empties straight back into the side of your punkin' haid, and that hurts. Reducing the muzzle climb would probably fix that completly. Somebody be sure to post how much MRI wants for a brake job on a Mark XIX!!

BTW: 50AE is pretty easy to reload, and with a Lee single stage press and a set of dies and some other stuff, you WILL pay off the investment in no more than 3 boxes of 50 rounds of 50AE ammo. It's one of the few calibers where you can actually MAKE money, and not just save it. BTW2 - Smith 500 ammo is about $2.50 a round these days...

Yes, it is easy to reload. Be sure to lay in a good supply of H110. A pound is good for about 200 rounds with the 300g bullet. The 500 S&W is easy to reload too except for the .502 Dardas bullets that I bought. Much better off with .501.

BTW I love the sound of the brass hitting the floor at BPR. You can really hear that the brass is, well, heavy doody, for lack of a more scientific term.

Just got off the phone with magnum research. 209.00 to add the brake and ship it back. Plus shipping for me to send it to pillager,MN. No more than 2 week turn around. So, do you think it's worth it?

I bought the gun originally for under 900 out the door, so the extra 230ish wouldn't be so bad. Lol

I've never shot one without a brake. So I can't say if it makes a difference or not. But that doesn't sound bad at all as far as price! I would do it, but that's mainly because I think it looks cool. Reminds me of the EBR's... The scarier looking the better!

I think it looks bad A$$ with that brake on. Maybe take yours off next time you shoot it and see if it feels different.
