Ideas for current model fullsize .45 in "traditional" SA/DA

I'm mostly a S&W guy, I have a 4516 (3.5" .45 stainless) and I would like a full size companion .45 but I am not completely enamored with the 8-round capacity of the little guy's big brothers so I am considering other full size options but having a hard time finding much in what I was always taught was called double action or double/single action or what S&W now calls "traditional double action" with a safety and preferably decocker. I dont want different behavior for my autos, so I am not interested in either SA 1911 style or in the DAO Glock/xd etc. even though those are all fine firearms.

Any ideas or do I just need to keep looking at old guns?

HK USP45F has all the features you're looking for and a 12+1 capacity. I've had one since they came out in 1995, it's been dead reliable. Can be fired both single and double action, has a manual safety, can be setup with ambi safeties and has a decocker which can be deleted if you wish. You can also get the Match trigger if you want a cleaner, more smooth breaking trigger.

you'll never regret buying a Sig 220 ...... I agree with the usp .45 too ..... flip a coin..... either is a better choice than .45 glock in my opinion.

The Sig is just great shooter 8+1 super accurate..... The HK usp series are indestructible... HK45 is nice gun too.

P220's definitely a nice gun... Sig's also coming out with the doublewide P227 .45!

Dont forget about the fm fnx or fnp 45. Dead reliable, 15+1 capacity and all the features you are looking for. My close second choice would be a cz or baby eagle or eaa witness

I could kick myself for trading mine for an Anschutz .222 Rem 18 years ago. I had a verbal agreement with the other party that if he didn't want it, I had first rights of refusal to buy it back. He keeled over from a heart attack or stroke, I forget and the executor of his estate got it.

I picked up a FNP 45 and couldn't be happier with it. The DA is a bit heavy but the SA is fantastic. By the end of my first range trip I was shooting it better than my 1911's. 16 rounds of .45 is a lot of lead for one clean-out.

I think the HK USP45(V1) is pretty much what you are looking for; that or a HK45.

Although the FN 45 is a pretty nice pistol as well.

Picked one of these up a couple of months ago... I haven't shot a 45 that is any better shooter, any 1911 included in that list.

Went to a couple LGS and looked at an FNX and an HK, both of which seemed very nice but for the price, they just didn't really do it for me. I looked at a Sig P220 but it did not feel good in my hand. Didn't see any Taurus, or Ruger DA 45s. Gonna stop at another tonight where they should have a Witness to check that out.

Anybody have any thoughts or experiences with the MRI Baby Eagle .45? I got to shoot one magazine through a Baby 9 at a shooters fair long while back and remember being positively impressed, but I know the .45 is a bit different and was kind of an afterthought to that model line.

Otherwise, I think for the money I might have to revert back to being a S&W stainless steel snob (old habits die hard) and just pick up extra magazines for extra reloading drills.

If you go for a Jericho/ Baby Eagle make sure to get one of the old steel framed ones, I've heard the polymer framed ones have been having some problems. Plus the steel ones are thinner...
