I got the stinking Coonan Thursday and I figured I'd take it apart, get familiar with it, clean and lube it etc. Well, usually I can get stuff apart but have trouble getting it back together. This thing I can't even get it apart. I can get the recoil spring out, and didn't even shoot it across the room. The slilde stop? Forget it. I don't know how they got it in, but it aint coming out. You'd think a few gentle taps with a plastic mallet on the pin side would pop it out but it is hung up on the plunger, apparently.
The good news is that The Rodentwoman heard me banging in the basement and thought I was trying to get it on with a gun again, and I was verbally protesting. So she said if I was unsuccessful not to come upstairs with lovin' on my alleged mind. She told me to wait a month and manybe it would be easier. Also good is that I tried some plastic prying tools but no metal, so I didn't mar the stinking Duracoat finish. Maybe I'll just fire the crap out of it and if it loosens up, great. If not, I still can lock the slide back and clean it.
Unless there's some secret to getting the slide stop out. Doesn't seem any different than a 1911. Has a lugless barrel but at this rate I'll never see it.
This is really disappointing. Two grand and I can't even get the slide stop out.
EDITED TO ADD: GOT IT DISASSEMBLED FINE. JUST HAD THE NOTCH MISALIGNED A BIT. EVERYTHING IS ANTISEPTIC NOW!
