XDM45 wrote:Alright, chambered it is.
After the usual P.A.M. on here about it, plus some extensive research elsewhere, my solution to setback is this:
Chamber the JHP and leave it as is until I am going to either clean the gun or practice with it.
If practice, I drop the mag full of JHP, leaving the 1 round chambered, insert a mag full of ball ammo for practice, fire off the JHP and whatever ball ammo, then when I'm done practicing, I clean the gun and add a new JHP to the mag of JHP, chambering a new round to leave as it is.
If I'm just cleaning, I drop the mag, eject the chambered JHP and set it aside for use at the next practice session. I doubt setback will occur with 2 chambering of the same round. Possible? Yes. Unlikely though. I'll spec it before firing it just because I'm paranoid/anal like that.
Since I normally practice 1-2x a month, less in Winter, a box of 20 JHP x 2 (40 rounds total) will last some time using this routine.
Anyone have any issues, foreseeable problems with this routine? Real answers always appreciated, snarky answers, not so much.

I don't foresee any problems with your new plan, but I have to admit that I'm kind of disappointed by this and I hope that you will reconsider. This forum is just a much funnier place with you open carrying an unloaded gun.

Dont see anything wrong with your new regime other then if you dryfire practice remember it is now really loaded instead of loaded.

Can't over emphasize the safety admonition:
Unload, and clear in a different room from where you dry fire. If you have company- NO LOADED GUNS in the practice room during safe time.Verbally command yourself (out loud) to unload and clear. Triple check
Aim at a safe, discrete area( not at/ near a window)
When you're done training. Verbally command to load, and tell yourself your gun is now loaded.
Might sound dumb, but so too would the ceiling plaster falling(and worse) if you eff up...

Rem700, Thank you for the one decent and real answer.
The rest of you who posted after my previous post, yeah, you guys get the Official A-Hat Award. Seems Rem700 is the only one who can read and understand "Real answers always appreciated, snarky answers, not so much." No wonder this place is called The Daycare. How do you guys look yourselves in the mirror since your perfection must be so bright it blinds you.... oh wait... my bad... it's not perfection that blinds you, it's hubris and ego fueled by narcissism.

I was actually going to complement you for seeing the other side of it. But then you posed again and showed your true colors. Well done.
