I'm not sure that if I DID! take this shall-remain-anonymous member up on his offer! for training that I would be allowed to share! this priceless one-of-a-kind information with "non-shooters"! Sorry Ron. Super duper double Ninja secret.

I guess that all of the years of hard work that I have put in and training and shooting a 100% on the NY DOJS Qualification doesn't mean that I am a shooter.

This is a sad day.

We could resort to having a vote, but I don't think I'm qualified to put it together.

God some of you really need to get out more!

This is from Gabe Saurez no truer words have been spoken! How many of you fit this?

Today the percentage of people wanting to do that is small. The percentage of dudes who want to put on the shaolin nice uniform and do a nice ballet-like kata is much higher. Same goes for the guys who show up to the range in their pressed inspection-ready 5.11 tuxedo with the latest magazine-approved holster, bitchin guy gun, etc., and stands there shooting groups. I could make twice as much money catering to those guys and never use an airsoft again. Just spend my time validating guys and making them feel good about themselves like some kool-aid cult leader.

Guys like that don't want to fight, or train to fight. And if a thug walked up to them on the street....a real thug, not the nemesis of their delusional day dream imaginations, they would not know what to do. Deep down they may know it, but don't dare admit it to themselves.

So as to hte question about the effectiveness of traditional martial arts today...it depends. It depends on you and what your focus is, as well as who you are learning from and what their focus is.

Tell you what... If said individual PMs me again (which I doubt unless he's a masochist  ) I'll ask him if you have the qualifications necessary to run a poll. :rotf:

So wait....... You are "training" with the HOPES of using your firearm in a confrontation?!?

I personally NEVER want to use my weapon outside of the range. If you a gearing for the chance to "Plug a bad guy" Maybe you should put down the gun, and get some counseling.

Seriously. If I am understanding this incorrectly, my apologies. If I am not, God help you, because the leagal system won't.

You really may be everything you allude to be and if your that good why don't you spend a little of your range time trying to help other shooters instead of shaking your head and laughing. If there is one thing clear to everybody but you is that members on this forum are willing to learn, but where are you to help in that training?

I'm curious. ET here seems to know everyone on this board (makes reference to none of us being shooters) except me. I feel left out. Could those of you that have seen ET shoot clue me in on what I'm missing?

You might have a hard time backing up your initial statements with smoke and quotes.

Shooting sports including IDPA, including USPSA, including bullseye rimfire leagues, including pellet guns and tin cans in the backyard .. can do nothing but improve your shooting skills and as a consequence your effectiveness with a firearm in a defensive role. Is it the only training you should pursue? Hell no! And nobody here has suggested anything of the sort.
