Not just double-stacks - Just about any mag with a decent spring is gonna require a little more force when filled to capacity...
In fact, if they go in real easy with the slide closed, I'd start thinking about new springs.
Now if you start having problems loading with the slide back - then that's something to look into.
Shooter115, since you mention the extensions in your situation, I'd have to wonder if you might be running into a bit of a tolerance issue with the extensions. If that's hitting the grip, before the mag catch engages, it could be could easily cause that issue - and slamming them in when they don't have any play could potentially cause problems with your catch and/or catch slots on the mags. Mag-empty, slide-locked-back, the mags should slide in and catch with really no effort at all.
I wouldn't advocate dremelling off that nub...
