holster help

Postby rtwills on Tue Sep 24, 2013 5:11 pm

I just purchased my first 1911  .. I got a Kimber custom 2 , I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction for a good leather OWB holster for this nice piece of machinery. I am a decent sized guy and not worried about IWB since I usually wear an untucked shirt over it. ( I usually carry a glock 21 in a blackhawk serpa).

Thanks

that's what I have (for OWB). I believe you've just avoided the dreaded "holster drawer". Many of us were not so lucky. I tried about four or five different rigs before I stumbled across SGH.

I'd also recommend a Bianchi CarryLok. We used to have a member here that wore one just about everywhere with a 1911 and I could never tell. While I love my Sideguard holsters if I were going to carry OWB on a consistent basis I'd have a CarryLok or PaddleLok.

This is what I ended up with http://www.ebay.com/itm/3-5-1911-OWB-Bl ... 4080592%26 from Winthrop holsters. Cannot fully comment on it yet since it just arrived.

Does anybody else has one of these? How would it compare to Side Guard and the like?

Edit: their main site http://www.winthropholsters.com/
Did you just buy that beautiful firearm, or are you trying to sell that piece of crap?

Definitely take a look at SGH. I think they're 10-12 weeks out right now, so you may have to pick up an "alternate" to get you by... oh no, here comes the start of the dreaded "holster drawer." Enjoy the new Kimber!
