Blued or stainless?

Given the choice between blued or stainless for a revolver, which would be the better option and why? Price difference would be less than $40. Thanks in advance for your input.

Depends on the manufacturer and the intended use for me. I like some companies bluing better than others, and I prefer the look of a blued gun but if its going to be carried or heavily used I would go with stainless.

I have both SS and Blued in Ruger GP100's.
The Blued one is definitely more accurate.

Yes. I recommend either a blued or a stainless revolver. Or even better, a blued and a stainless revolver. Seriuosly though I agree with justinvan. Stainless wears better but blue is sexier.

Stainless has a better chance of looking the same in fifty years. No holster wear, less rust.

I like stainless because it's easier to find the dirty spots when cleaning. I think blued does look better though.

Stainless is for lazy people who don't respect tradition and don't take proper care of their firearms.

Make mine stainless. I seldom buy blued revolvers any more. They look great new or if you just going to keep them in the safe, but they soon show wear if you holster them much.

Stainless. Easier to clean, and minor scratches buff out readily.

My Ruger SP101 got a little bit of rust on the cylinder (as they say, it's "stainLESS" not "stainFREE") after many months in a leather holster pretty much 24/7. A little elbow grease and successively finer grits of sandpaper, and ta-dah!, good as new. On Rugerforum.net I read extensive discussion of exactly what grit of sandpaper and 3M scrub pads match the factory finish, and what will make it shinier, right up to a mirror finish if you want.
