Rock Island 2011 9mm hi cap

Postby deadarrow on Tue Oct 22, 2013 8:05 pm

Just saw this on the RI site. Wondering if anyone knows anything about these. I have searched for info and havn't found much. It looks to be an all steel frame with full dust cover. 17 round capicity in 9mm. The 2011 has been on my wish list for a while now but the prices are out of my reach. I'm hoping Rock Island will keep the price affordable. I have the 9mm single stack tactical model and like it very much.

I checked with the local dealer listed on their website Drury Firearms and they put me on a notification list... I have yet to see one in the wild outside of a few gun writers.

Yes I saw that they were listed as a dealer. Thats a good idea. Guess I'll have to do the same.

Looked a Para Hi-caps?? I think you can get nearly the same capacity in 40 or 45, and a 9mm 1911 is kinda like an original Ford Mustang with a V6 in it...

Would that be a resto mod of some sort? Or did you mean inline six :P

I've been interested in the 1911 9mm GI for some time but have not been able to find one at any store!

Its not a 2011 like a STI 2011. It is a Rock Island copy of a Para double stack 1911. The Rock Island uses both the RI mags and Para mags (from what I was told).

Yes it does use the Para mags as far as I know. The frame is different than STI type 2011's. Still it looks like an affordable option.
