glock probzz

Postby hunterfreakhd on Mon Jan 06, 2014 1:49 pm

I have a glock 19 gen 4 new 03-01-12. I've just recently started shooting it and have had multiple fte. So called glock CS to see if it had the "updated" recoil spring as to which they replied yes. I told them it still fails to eject about every 6 or 7 rounds out of one hundred. Glock told me to use 147 grain ammo. I've yet to try it but shouldn't it work with any ammo? Is it worth putting in after market parts? Such as this http://www.whitesounddefense.com/produc ... .-9mm.html

Should've stayed with gen 3 damn FDE.

As a new gen4 G19 owner as of last week (thanks, Arnzen!), I'm curious to know the answer from some of the more experienced folks on here. I put around 400 rounds through mine since last Wednesday, all random from WWB 115gr to Hornady +p to some random 147 I had laying around from god knows where. Indoors and out. Zero malfunctions.

If I had your issues, it'd be sending it back to Glock for fixin' before I put any aftermarket parts in it. But again - I'm new to this Austrian family.

Mr. Vroomm always had a standing offer of $300 for any unreliable Glock - more than you'd get for trade......

(This doesn't help your FTE issue but maybe will coax him back to the forum...)

They've been shipping with the newer parts for 1.5 yrs.
Send it in if it continues.
You don't need to use 124 or 147 ammo

Your recoil spring should be marked 0-4-3. Did you have problems with all three of your mags or just one ? What ammo were you shooting, reloads or factory ? I would stick with factory OEM parts for now.
I have shot several Gen. 4 19's with no issues.

I'll check for those numbers when I get a chance. Factory federal AE 115 gr ammo. Same fte with seven different mags. My gen 4 26 has never had problems 700 + rounds.

If you are near the metro, I am happy to let you shoot mine and I will shoot yours - to rule out technique as the problem. We can swap recoil springs and see if it stops. I have had 1 smoke stack in my gen4 19 and it was my 100th shot - that was over a year ago. I halve had 1500 failure free rounds since then, none of them have been 147 grain.

For ANY gun manufacturer, much less the manufacturer of the ultimate gun for everyman in most situations, saying you have to use 147 grain ammo with it is a pile of bullcrap at least as big as I am, and which smells even worse!! That answer is something you would expect to get from the rude pet hippopotamus over at Gunstop!! I know nothing about the quality of Glock Tech Service, but I do know a big pile of crap when I see one. I'd report this incident back to Glock, and demand a more satisfactory answer, another gun, or a refund.

What BS. A quality firearm ought to be able to shoot any ammo of the appropriate caliber all day long and cycle normally. If it doesn't, it's defective.

Sadly, I fear this is only the beginning of the "defective Glock runaround" that you're going to get. IMHO, Glock's better days are behind them. The manufacturing, quality assurance, and customer service....well, never mind. You should persist with Glock. In some cases, they'll string you along until they can claim that it's out of warranty and will make you pay for shipping. You will need to be persistent and insistent with them.

You might get some insight from one of the several "defective Glock" threads over on M4Carbine.net. It's been a recurring theme. Had it happen myself on a Gen 3 Glock 19. Finally fixed it by spending about $75 and replacing the extractor/ejector mechanism with an Apex.

I am near the metro but also 99.9% sure I'm not limp "wristing"it. I've taken several classes and assisted teaching a few.

Same numbers different order. 0 on the left, 4 on the right, 3 bottom center
