Birthday Present to Myself

Postby JohnGageMN on Thu Aug 21, 2014 12:34 pm

Just picked up a 1983 vintage Ruger Redhawk Hunter in 44 Mag. In great shape with solid cylinder lock-up. Was in the used case at Virginia Surplus for $649, but I talked them down to $550.

Happy belated birthday to me! :D

John, Happy Birthday and congrats on a good find. When you tire of shooting magnum loads, try some .44 Specials through it. A nice round to shoot.

Really sweet looking gun. If it shoots nearly as good as my .44 mag Super Blackhawk, you will be one happy camper.
Like one of the gang said, look into some .44 Special type reloads for target shooting.
I have a nice reload using W-231 and cast bullets with .44 magnum cases.

Congratulations on a great purchase.

Finally got the new beast out to the range today. Only at 10 yards, but for my first time with it I'm plenty happy with this 50 round group.

Sweet pistol. I have a 4 1/2 inch Redhawk and an Alaskan both in 44 mag. Need to get the 7 1/2 inch redhawk to round out my Ruger collection. Enjoy your birthday present.

Hey, that's 30 ft! ;)

That's where I usually practice with my SP101, 30 ft!
