I have shot and wished I owned both of these.

But 1911s are awesome, a classic. I owned two and I miss them, sometimes.

Unless... you want to spring for the new Boberg. That's probably what I'd buy if I came into an extra grand today.

Another option would be a revolver chambered for both 45acp and 45 Colt. I love shooting mine and it's great at places where you can't pickup your brass.

The colt 1911 in .45ACP is an iconic piece, and since you are not worried about competition or carry, I would try it.

The action is much different than the striker fired guns, with much less take up and if done right, no creep.

I would get the full size version to eat up some recoil (the commander and shorter guns can have a bit of muzzle flip...) and if you handle the glocks OK, the grip will not be too large.

It also fits in with some types of competition shooting very well, so if you change your mind, you can always go back to it for those.

Its also my experience that a good .45 Auto 1911 holds resale a bit better than other pistols.

I would stick with some of the bigger manufacturers for one. Probably not Colt itself, as IMO they have priced themselves out of the market. A full sized Kimber used to be my main recommendation, but they have had some QC issues lately. Stay away from the non european imports. Sig isn't bad. S&W isn't too bad either. Ruger is nice. Dan Wesson is a bit of a crapshoot, some I have seen were great. If you want to spend serious change there are a bunch of custom manufacturers (Wilson, Baer, etc.) Remington is making one, but I have not shot one.

A revolver is neat also, but I would avoid them in auto pistol calibers (sorry 625 fans) as you need to worry about special ammo or moon clips, if you go that (revolver)route get a .44 or a .38/.357.

.45 colt is nostalgic, but ammo is pricey.

^^^ no mention of Springfield... They are a good company that stands behind their product.
Did you just buy that beautiful firearm, or are you trying to sell that piece of crap?

There are some really good prices on Colt's right now. I bought an O1070XSE for under $900 from Buds last fall.

You need to work on your aim a little.

Was just getting it on paper at the time. It is now sighted in at 50. Groups are not as pretty as that one of 3 at the 25 but minute of deer heart there. Scope adjustments were made on this target.

Thanks for the clarification. That is a beautiful combination. Is the revolver a Freedom Arms or BFR?

BFR .45-70, Burris 2-7 scope.

I like a fuller grip of a double stack, and the round count doesn't hurt a bit. Sort of like a Beretta 92 grip but with CZ ergos.

Just a thought.

^^^THIS!!

A 15 round 45 auto is about as serious a deterrent as you can ask for, with its proven 45ACP knockdown ability and the capacity of a 9 mil double stack. If you want a little more quality, Para makes a P-14.45 that's still well below a grand.
