30-32 round magazines

Postby mnxd9 on Fri Aug 17, 2007 6:13 pm

Bored tonight, so I've been surfing, I came across some 30 to 32 round magazines, any reason one shouldn't buy these? Legalities? Would one get slapped upside the head at the range with one? Dirty looks?

For reference.... http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/49226-57840-1350.html and http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/MAG658-19812-1350.html

Phorvick has one for a 9mm Glock. He sometimes shows it in class. One of those things that gets the attention of the students. They have a cool factor, but make conceal carry a bit more difficult unless you have really spacious pockets.

Well, during the AWB (Assault Weapons Ban) you couldn't buy new ones so the price was pretty high. Lower now.

As far as at the range, I'm sure you'll get a few looks if you load, say, a Glock 26 with a 30 round magazine, but I know Bill's doesn't mind it. Fully loaded, though, one of those magazines would make a formidable club for frapping someone up longside the head. A Glock 26 with one would look like a tadpole--mostly tail.

AFAIK, there are no magazine capacity laws in MN as far as legality is concerned. I don't think anyone would dare slap you upside the head with all that firepower in your hand. Dirty looks? Maybe out of jealously. I'd give you a big grin and ask if I could try it. It would look pretty goofy hanging out of my sub-compact.

There is no legal reason at this time not to get some, but that can quickly change again. Who cares what others may say.

I had some hi-caps an LEO Only stuff, but they got lost somewhere along the line.............
or fell off the boat......
or something.......
I know nothing.................... :P

I had a 30+ mag for a Ruger P something or other quite a few years back, Was kinda fun stuck in the belt and used it as a monopod.

Promag mags make really good paper weights.... No so good at delivering ammo to your gun though... at least the 3 I mistakenly purchased.

If you rotate an IWB holster to about 5 o'clock, and it tucks in good, you can conceal a 33 round glock magazine pretty effectively. Don't ask how I know... :D :D

It does detrimentally effect your draw time though.

30 rounders are cute range toys, but unless it's a SHTF scenerio, they have little practical purpose.

 Well then maybe I'll have to pick one down the road for fun, XD's don't seem to be too picky so it may work good.

actually the 33 rounder mags for the glock 18 work in all 9 mill and 40 S&W Glocks quite well.

I have a good friend who does the hollywood star protection thing and he carries a g-27 with a stock mag as his first pull and the reload is the glock 18 mag full of 40 S&Ws Something like 25 shots, in one mag for back up. He used to work for the Feds and said it was a common deep cover method of small gun with big firepower. I have a couple of argentine 18 round single stacks for 1911's and they work fine, and the back up 26 has two G18 mags in the car.

I have a bunch of 33 round Glock magazines for my G17. They are legal, and they work flawlessly.
It turns out that what you have is less important than what you do with it.
