Magazine storage

Postby armedwalleye on Tue Mar 03, 2015 7:24 pm

Where and how do you store magazines for pistols? Seems like I've got the scattered around in stacks in proximity to the gun in question, but it seems as though they take up a lot of shelf space, and I guess I'm too type A to toss them all into a bin.
Thinking about some sort of storage rack that goes across the back of the safe the allows them to sit in at an angle with the bases sticking out.

What does everybody else do??

Those bins at the upper left have mags sorted by type. Extra AR mags in a case down low

A tool box with several pull out drawers works well.

I have also used the plastic cabinets with many drawer, that are sold for storing nuts and bolts etc.,
this one from Fleet Farm fits most handgun magazines.

I got a bunch of magnetic strips, similar to this, for free from a place that I used to work. $10 a whack seems kind of expensive! I mounted them on the bottom of the shelves in my safe and they work OK.

I buy inexpensive ammo pouches and store them in those.

I found a nice rack online that stores them at an angle, but yet you can still see the tops of them...

For my pistol mags I use these from Home Depot, $ 3.48 each. Each pouch will hold 10 mags.

I found a shoe storage rack that has about two dozen cubby-holes that fit nicely into a cabinet I have in my ammo room. Think it was from Target, but could have been Wlly-World or fleet Farm... If I remember correctly, I even caught it on sale, so it was the perfect option. Stuck some labels on the bottom of each space showing caliber and went to town with filling it up!

I do the same as BBeckwith, I even use the same brand containers. I use them for bulk storage of empty brass and loaded rounds. I use a bit of masking or athletic tape and a Sharpie to label what is in them.

I store them in whatever cardboard box I can find in the drawers of the desk I use as a gun bench. I keep brand new ones in the original packaging in the drawers too.
