99% is a US Army Statistic with M193 - TAP and Rem 55JHP's are even better.

Boy, that might be "official" army, but my conversations with a lot of guys from the sand box, vs 1.0 and 1,1, say otherwise. A good friend who is a Navy Doc, who spent most of O5 in Fallujah had nothing good to say about the 5.56 in combat. He personally repaired BG' s we wanted to save who had up to 9 that's nine 5.56 holes in them. Many many kept fighting with multiple holes in them, leading to a favorite topic of discussion among those in ER about when the M14 or a similar device was going to be returned to combat. Too many of the people shot with the 5.56 just has pencil holes thru and thru.

Rounds are tested from 20 and 24 inch barrels, then used in 11 and 14 inch barrels, and they dont work

To sum up all that reading. It says only carry a $2000 1911 in .45acp 100% of the time, so you can fight your way to a M2.   ;) ;) :yippee: :hmm: :goofydance:

From what I have understood, the purpose of the 5.56 was not to be a one shot / one kill round. It can of course, but it also wounds people quite severely which requires a massive amount of resources to then care for the wounded individual. In either case, if they can fight back after the first shot, they won't be doing it for long. With the energy behind the bullet, I'd rather have an AR to defend myself instead of a pistol.

As would we all, but it would make it harder to get a seat at the restaraunt. ;)

I know that 9mm +p is SAAMI is roughly equal to CIP for max pressure and is ok to use in my CZ. Do I give up a little weight and gain a little pressure? Of more likely does it mater either is better than the Winchester white box 147 grain JHP I've been carrying?

So really what you need to do is ditch the 9mm and get a 12ga., 5.56, 7.62, .45acp, or a M2. Or get some Winchester Ranger 127+P+ because obviously you carry a handgun and not a long gun. Which is probably why you asked about handgun ammo instead of rifle ammo and rounds. Just be a where that handguns dont do as good of a job as a Howitzer, mortar, tow missile, or a Abrams M1A1 or M1A2 does. Handguns like anything have limitations.

Actually, what I was saying could basically be summed up with this: if you're carrying a 9mm, you are carrying a tool with which there is very little real world difference between high-end ammo and ball, because you are either going to hit the CNS or you are not going to hit the CNS, and both high end ammo and ball penetrate well enough to do so. Buy any good hollow point that runs in your gun and go for it, or if none run in your gun, shoot ball.

And, FWIW, I have not said one shouldn't carry a handgun because they are wimpy (and they are wimpy), I just said one shouldn't expect immediate stops with a handgun unless they hit the CNS (with any ammo) or they are in for a really, really eye-opening experience.

Your real life experiences may be different than mine, but mine are what I base my opinions on, so I'll bug out and let everyone else worry about what ammo they need to carry in their poodle-shooters and go for a run.
It turns out that what you have is less important than what you do with it.
