In order to be a meatsheild you would have to be between the bullet and the target...... you up for running the 40 and seeing who wins old man?

Nope, but as long as I'm not closer than 10 feet you can't see me anyways, so I'm safe. :P

As would we all, but it would make it harder to get a seat at the restaraunt. ;)

I only went 4 miles. It's COLD, and the bike ride into work and back had me a little tired to start with.....

That makes me think of some nice rimfire scopes with parallex adjustment....

To get this thread further off track:
It's agreed that a handgun isn't any good for self defense, should I carry a AK or AR pattern rifle?

That should be good for at least 5 pages of argument right? :)

While under the MN Permit Law it would be legal -it would not be shall we say socially acceptable..... You will meet lots of nice young well armed fellas really fast and you may get to ride the "lightning" so to speak.

Once again I find myself agreeing with Goalie. There must be some sort of mental connection there I haven't figured out yet...

People spend so much time obsessing about gear, ammo, tactics, and a lot of things that will only make a smidgeon of difference, if any at all, when getting in shape and being situationally aware will save your ass way more often than shaving a tenth off your draw or carrying a bigger gun. Lose some fat, improve your cardiovascular system, and eat some decent food. If survival is what we're all interested in, I guess I'm more concerned with cancer or heart disease than the small chance of lead poisoning.

And bad guys aren't zombies, who chase you down relentlessly even with half a dozen bullets in them, and unless your bad guy is hopped-up on something fun, he's likely to stop fighting once shot. Pretty much any ammo is going to take the fight out of someone who's after your wallet, your weed, or whatever. This isn't an argument for not caring about your ammo, because certainly you could encounter someone who needs all the power you can give him, but let's at least recognize that many street-level gunfights end the moment the first guy is hit. Pick ammo that works well for your gun, rates well during testing, and save the hair splitting for whether 18 year-old scotch is REALLY better than 12.
