The barrel and slide just fit together perfectly so no fitting needed. Got the slide all put together but the sights.

Fitted the ejector had to file it down a little. to get it to fit into the slide.

Dropped in the trigger, mag catch, sear, disconector, and Hammer. When I put on the grip safety I could no longer move the trigger even when it was depressed so had to fit that also.

Got that all moving and so I then put the main spring housing together and that just slid right into place. Put on the plunger tube and dropped in the thumb safety and it worked with no fitting needed!

Well here she assembled

Fit is very tight. Still need to get the sights put on the slide but I did run a few rounds through it. 3 of them nose dived in to the feed ramp, all reloads. I will polish the feed ramp and test again. I am going to cerakote her in graphite black and tweek where needed. The trigger is short but heavy so will need to play with that some more. Over all I could not be happier with this.If any of you have thought about doing this DO IT!!! :D :P :D It is not that hard believe me!! If you all knew my gunsmithing experience I think you would be even more impressed with what I have built. I mean really how many on this board has BUILT THEIR OWN 1911!!!! 8-) :twisted: 8-) :twisted:

I have replaced many 1911 safeties and have NEVER had one that did not need fitting of the manual thumb safety. They are made oversize to be fit to the individual gun. Be sure to check its operation.

I too was amazed that no fitting was needed. I have triple checked and it is working fine with no fitting.

If you click on the links on the first page it will tell you. I bought the complete kit and had to buy the jig separately for about $1300. So by no means is this a cheap way of getting a 1911. But that is not why I did it. I wanted to build one and learn a bunch in the process. This gun is very tight and so far it is very high quality parts. All CNC no cast parts. I figure that it is around a Kimber or STI or better on the quality scale.

I used the jig in the 2nd link in the OP to cut the frame. It is what they call the phantom jig. It basically is two aluminum plates that has a slot on each side where the rails need to be cut. Then there is a third aluminum plate that slides in the slot that has a carbide cutter that you can adjust the cutting depth, as you cut you keep adjusting the cutter deeper until you get to the depth you need. Also need a drill press to drill the sear and hammer pin holes. The company does make a different jig that requires the use of a mill.

Then all you need is basic files and stones to fit the parts.
